I do see what you are saying about it not being a trilogy. Having read only the first three books it seemed like a trilogy to me and that being on the cover I just assumed that it was a given. That being said given your experience in this area I do respect your opinion and feel that you would know more than me in this area. I hope I haven't taken this discussion too far, its just that sometimes if I think that im right I'll argue more than is necessary.

I just checked my copy of the children of dune it actually says on the top " the climax of the classic dune trilogy" so I guess if the publisher felt the need to call it a trilogy who am I to say it isn't.

My doctor recommended the dune trilogy to me and i loved it. So I guess you could you its doctor recommended. (he actually wrote it on a prescription pad).

Dune isnt a trilogy.

I think your splitting hairs saying its not a trilogy. while it may be true that it wasn't origanally written as a trilogy I don't think it is too far out to say that it is.

I really like the Drizzt books, sometimes. I have to be in the mood for a good hack and slash fantasy. Salvitors characters lack some depth and his story line always comes back to the same things, kill an orc, walk a little further kill another orc, kill a giant, walk further, kill another orc and a giant, call panther, panther kills orc. His books go something like that, however his fight scenes are good enough that they will keep most intrested.

I just finished Enders Game and Speaker for the dead a couple of weeks ago and I loved them. They just seemed very clever. Even with knowing the plot twist in Enders game I still really enjoyed it.

I just like getting paid for the day that I would have missed had I stayed home sick.

You are correct, it is a matter of preference. It just really bugs me when its 70 one day and three days later its 7. I'm just sick of winter. This summer you will hear me complaining because it raining and I can't ride my motorcycle to work. B.T.W.  I can't call in sick, I haven't had a sick day in seven years and don't plan on breaking my streak.

I have to disagree with rain being worse. Although it can ruin a good day rain is not nearly as bad. for the following reasons.

1. Its cold.
2. It makes me have to shovel the driveway.
3. It makes me have to shovel the roof.
4. Its cold.
5. my car gets stuck in it.
6. I work on cars for a living, when it snows and sticks to cars it drips on me all day.
7. Its cold.
8. When it snows I have to go to work anyways.
9. It piles up at stop signs and I can't see through intersections.
10. I'm not sure if I mentioned this but its cold.

It's better than snow. It was snowing here yesterday, and today it was seven degres on my way in to work.

Since i haven't posted here in a while I'll put the books that i have recently read.
1. enders game by Orson Scott Card. which i loved.
2. Speaker for the dead. also Orson Scott card. which i loved even more.
3. The crown conspiracy. by Michael J. Sullivan. It was kind of a light easy read. He didn't stray too far from the stereotype of certain races. The main characters were kind of cliche but it was written well enough that it didn't take too much from the story. All in all it wasn't too bad for a new author, I'll probably read the sequel when it comes out.
4. I just started xenocide this morning so i will have to see how that goes.

Books / Re: Anyone Try the Kindle?

The kindle is definitely overpriced for what I would use it for if I had one.

Especially now that amazon is offering an app that you can use for your iphone or ipod touch. you can do basically the same thing with the ipod plus so much more.

Not to start up a debate about it, or say you're wrong or anything, but you do know that most of all stem cells used in embryonic stem cell testing are the by products of in vitro fertility treatments and procedures that are all ready done in the first place?

What this means: Almost all stem cell research comes from left over embryotic tissue from other procedures and experiments that are ALL READY being done, and have nothing barring and/or otherwise stopping them that gets either stored away long past its expectancy to even be viable to grow, or destroyed and disposed of anyways.

In other words: Stem cell research uses what is generally thrown away as garbage from other things, and has nothing to do with abortions. In fact, the most common procedure that produces it is making the proverbial "Test-tube baby". The left overs are what goes to stem cell research.
Quote

I both agree and disagree with your statement. I know that some of these embryos are not viable for implantation, but some are. when they "create" these embryos they make too many so they can weed out the non-viable ones and they almost always have some left over. This is where some of the abortion debate comes in. wether a fertilized egg is considered a baby or not. most pro lifers say yes but the pro abortionists say no.

I personally say these fertilized eggs are babies and most are viable for implant. there are actually embryo adoption programs out there for left over embryos.

This issue can be debated very heatedly by both sides of the issue, however the life or non life of the embryo is not the only problem. The fact that we are or will be spending our tax dollars on something that has been proven not to work. There is a reason there is such a push to get federal funding, its because there are very few privet groups that are willing to spend their money on something that will not profit them.

I think its rather ironic that Obama says he will get rid of some programs that waste money and then a couple of weeks later signs a bill that authorizes federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Embryonic stem cells show little to no benefit over adult stem cells, but to appease the Michal J Foxes of the world who don't mind taking another life to better theirs. I'm sorry if this is a touchy issue but it really makes me angry that he undid all the pro-life laws that Bush put into action with just a couple swipes of his pen.
