Two of the most important attributes are Military and religion(Aztecs and Japanese have both). So choose a tribe beased upon key attributes. This will pay off later in the shape of tribe bonuses. If you have a capital in plains building irrigation should be a priority while on a grassland, the first order of business should be to build a mine. Don't try to save a lot of gold in the beginning. Build the basic structures. Research science quickly up to iron working or bronze working.  Build a scout in the meantime. Send him to explore the map. Build another and fortify it in the city. Try to keep your expansionist agenda on hold until u reach middle ages. When you reach the middle ages build knights-lot's of them and expand as much as you can.
PS:- I would've written more but I have really delicate fingers. So why don't you chack out http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/civilization_iii_c.txt

Well if it's better than the first one, what's gonna stop it from having a cult following?

I've been a huge fan of the original movie. Has anyone seen it's latest incarnation? Is it going to become the cult classic that it's predecessor was?

I've never found Tele Shopping Network programs interesting. The only information that they share is doctored to generate more revenue for the products on sale.

Cricket2k2 was a really challenging title and was voted as the best cricketing videogame ever by most gaming magazines.

Cricket is not a boring sport. Anyway, since he plays soccer, you could buy him FIFA2k4.
