Brandon Sanderson / Re: Dalinar's visions *SPOILERS*
« on: September 09, 2010, 01:30:14 AM »
I took it as definately an effectively recorded message after the last vision. Also, 'fraid I disagree with it being all about attracting an honourspren, the conversation with Nohadon in one of the visions implies that there are other sorts of spren which can give ppowers other than honourspren. "not all spren are as discerning as honourspren".

As for the most important words a man can say? Maybe "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves." or perhaps "Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination."

The Radiants were said to be founded by the heralds, perhaps Tanavast is the herald who founded the windrunners?

Standard, it's on their shoulders, I think they're under the edges of it.

Side carry, they bunch up and carry it at an angle so it almost reaches the ground at one side and sticks up quite a bit at the other side, I did wonder how it worked myself, probably part of it has to do with there being more space underneath it than at the edges, so you can have your arms at the same height in the middle as someone at an edge and be holding it at a lower height.

sdelu: you missed what inkthinkr said, crossing from plateau A to plateau B you find a spot where A is higher than B, going back you find a spot where B is higher than A as they're not at all even.

Maybe the radiants in some way worked directly with the almighty and things went wrong for them after odium killed him?

Fourth is the most likely, in my opinion. His words to Szeth are telling: "Sometimes, you must tear down a structure to build a new one with stronger walls". He's planning to force a collapse, then rebuild a nation that can survive what's coming.
Yeah, I think his plan is to cause everything to fall apart so that he can build a strong nation in everything's place, assumaby with himself as king.

I really don't think that Dalinor's blade was a dawnshard.

One thing I am wondering about though is what has happened to the shardblades, firstly regarding quantity, the Radiants apparently had way more of them than are around in the world today and secondly regarding their condition, if they're cursed or something.

Oh, Szeth is awesome. Are you excited as I am that he'll be getting his own book? It's true :D

The Taravangian reveal was emotional, but it didn't match my horror when Sadeas betrayed Dalinar. That was just... God. I can't put words into that one.
Please can you get that interview posted....

Shardblades were supposably given to the radiants to fight the voidbringers, so the voidbringers having them seems strange.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: WoK: Kaladin and Syl *Spoilers*
« on: September 08, 2010, 12:11:25 AM »
My guess is that Kaladin's raw power has maxed out now that Kaladin has taken the oath of the knights radiant.  It seems like a good mortal (i.e. Elantrian or Returned or powerful Mistborn) level, and will take a lot of practice to master.  Also, it seems to me that it is the same level as Szeth has hit, and Szeth never said anything about increasing in power over time, nor have we seen such shown onscreen.
He only spoke the second Ideal of the Knights Radiant, I think there are more, so perhaps he has more power to come as he gets mroe in sync with Syl through committing himself to the rest of the Ideals, or perhaps not.

Inkthinker: hoping to see more of your art in the future books, it was great.

I'm pretty sure that there are only 16 shards of adonalasium, I've heard people saying something about the 17th shard being a group of people that investigates the activites of the 16 shards. I think that's info direct from Brandon, but I don't have a source.

Miyabi: I think Nightfire107 ws suggesting what to read to learn something about the overarching plot in the cosmere which the Alcatraz books aren't part of.

Well, got the book on Tuesday, but didn't have much time so could only be half way through till yesterday when suddenly I had more time and have therefore finished it.

As this is a spoilerless topic, I'll just say that it was a very enjoyable read, and despite my relatively careful reading Brandon managed to surprise me repeatedly.
