Do they want documentation when you try to fix errors?  I've found some whoppers in my own family tree and haven't known how to figure out which record is the right one.

I've always disliked Prince Caspian the book so when "forced" to see it (Indiana Jones was sold out) I wasn't sure what to expect.  I loved this movie.  It added some action type scenes but I felt that the additions tended to help the movie get away from the things I don't like about the book:  it is boring and they spend too much time squabbling among themselves.  I especially liked the conflict between Peter and Caspian and how that was resolved.

Thanks for the review.  I've been wondering if I should try this one because the teen conflicted emotion thing of her Twilight books drives me crazy.  I thought maybe if it was an adult novel it wouldn't be so bad.  Now I know not to buy this one, but wait until my library gets it.

Well, I did get a new wallet and purse because at the start of this whole thing my 1 1/2 year old threw up in my purse.  It was rather disgusting.  And my husband spent six hours on a ladder restaining the south side of our house today, so I have had some good gifts this Mothers' Day already.

I think it is.  I also know that Sean Austin is Twoflower which irritated some people at the Terry Pratchett Newsgroup I read sometimes.  I don't think Color of Magic is one of his better ones either, but I liked it better than Hogfather, so I would like to see it.

Just finished Insurrection by David Weber.  Very intense.  I'll have to get the others from the library, but not until I can stay up all night to read them.  There was no place to stop.  Since half my family (and me) had the stomach flu I was up anyway, but it was quite a ride.

I just saw it a little while ago and mostly liked it.  The wizards were the best part.  I think the main reason I didn't like it a lot is that Hogfather is one of my least favorite Pratchett books.  I hope the verson of Color of Magic they did recently comes out on USA available DVD soon.

My brother in law gave me the 'Deeds of Paksinarion' (I think I spelled that wrong) -it's the omnibus- and I didn't mind it until near the end there is this torture scene... descriptive, very, very descriptive and LONG. I think we're talking a full chapter at least. It was one of those moments where you've just invested over 1000 pages and you know something big is gonna happen in the center of the scene you don't want to be reading.
I just finished this book and I agree.  I could understand why it was there and all that, but it so didn't fit the rest of the book or help the reader in any sense.  It could have been much shorter and less graphicand still gotten the point across, but you knew it was important so you had to read it if you wanted to finish the rest of the book. I told my husband about it and he has given up about half-way through, though he had other issues with it as well. The title is Deed of Paksenarrion. :)

One of the disadvantages of having many children is that I've had someone in my house throwing up for the last ten days.  Including Monday when four of us were sick.  Empathy to everyone with sick children.

Attorneys for the booksellers claim the four-month-old law violates their constitutional right to free speech and criminalizes material that would otherwise not be considered sexually explicit, like textbooks, comics or magazines.

When did selling other's opinions become "free speech"?  Free commerce maybe, but it seems that the sacrosanct phrase "free speech" has expanded a LOT since 1787.  Complaining about the broadness of the law, or the unworkability of the law, I understand, but "free speech"?

The biggest problem I see is the idea that the separation between adult movies/literature and kid's  movies/literature is the amount of graphic sex/violence/language you cram into it. The inclusion of these doesn't make the media more adult. It just makes it cruddy. I have yet to see a book/movie that was BETTER because of the inclusion of these elements. In fact most of the time it ruins a perfectly good plot.

YES!  Why does it make it adult to put those things in?  It is like putting fart jokes in children's shows, a cheap way to get a laugh or pull people in.
