The Annotations Brandon made for book 1 mention only 3 magic systems, but you never know what surprises await inside EUOL's worlds.

Yeah.  It's too bad EUOL will not touch upon them in book 3.  We are going to have to wait.  That is an interesting theory about Electrum.

You're right about that, Chaos.  Alendi talked about the Mist Spirit, but didn't seem too concerned about the mists themselves, if I remember correctly.  Maybe they just didn't exist to such an extent.  I'm not too sure about the ambigram quest.  I have to reread them. :-\

I know it's speculation, but it just makes so much sense, especially showing the spikes with blood on them?  Why would EUOL show this to us, and have Sazed think how it looked just like an Inquisitor's spike, then show all the dead and mangled bodies?  EUOL even has Sazed speculate how Marsh hasn't really been specific about how Inquisitors are created, and the Marsh seemed "different".  He even just up and disappeared the next day, after conveniently showing Sazed Kwaan's writing while not giving him enough time to read the whole thing.  There didn't seem to be any other purpose for going there.

My point about the writing was that the metals can be used in multiple ways for multiple purposes, so why can't atium?

I agree.  I still think the Lord Ruler would keep a stash.  Now, if you are suggesting that the Inq's took it all after he died, I could go with that.

That is my point exactly.

He may not have actually received Malatium from Oreseur, but I don't doubt that is where he learned of it.  I would like to know what you combine Atium with to make Malatium.  I imagine that wouldn't give any of the story away.  All we know is what it does, what it's called and that it contains Atium.

Skaa are encouraged to breed, so they can be easily disposed of without hurting the workforce.  It is the Terris who's breeding is controlled.  Skaa is just another word for Peasant; they are not a separate race from the nobles.
Yes, all three magic systems have references to metal in them: Hemaglobin and Metallurgy becomes Hemallurgy (Blood Metal), Ferris (Iron) and Alchemy becomes Feruchemy, and Alloy with the suffix "mancy" to make Allomancy.  It is interesting that Hemallurgy seems to be the most descriptive of the three.  Feruchemy and Allomancy sound like abilities.  Hemallurgy, however, seems to describe the process more than the magic.  Metallurgy is not just the study of metals, but also the  process of combining metals to make alloys.

The number of spikes, as well as what they are made of, must be a factor.  I also think they would kill the subject even if it wasn't necessary to ensure knowledge of the process was not leaked.  If the Skaa learned how to create beings to challenge the Inquisitors, it would make the Lord ruler's job more difficult.  Remember, this is a person who required Skaa women to be killed after Nobles bedded them, just to ensure the Skaa would not gain Allomancy, and executed Skaa nonstop for 7 hours after the Rebel army was defeated.  They didn't even win the battle!

A Lurcher assasin skilled in throwing knives would work well.  He wouldn't have to go to the body to retrieve the knife, and since most Allomancers are not constantly burning metal, he could kill almost anyone with a knife to the throat, Heart, or Aorta.  You pretty much die instantly with these injuries, so no time to heal yourself with Pewter.

Titanic sinking scene (which was probably as long as some entire moveis) was a big one for me.  I didn't cry; it was worse than that.  I felt completely empty inside.  I couldn't wait to see a puppy, a child playing, something that would help me smile.

Dead Poet's Society gets me, too.

Exactly.  I actually thought the same thing about the first Pirates movie.

Take some time to think about how Sazed must feel after what happens leading up to the Well scene.  Talk about tearing down someone's beliefs.   It puts a fantastic new spin to the old "evil uses good's compassion against it" routine.

Resting often.........let's just throw this out there.  Maybe that is another side effect of their power.  Maybe instead of burning metals, they use the energy of their own bodies.  So using Hemallurgy is akin to running a marathon.

I think the Inquisitors knew all along how to control the Koloss.  They probably acted as the Lord Ruler's field generals when the Koloss were summoned.

I don't see it as a voice in her head, per se.  I think Reen's voice really was her own mind, as it's messages change as she changes.  I don't think anything she has learned thus far will help her defeat Ruin.  She really has her work cut out for her, now.

First off, Kelsier was far from the most powerful who ever lived.  Vin's Kandra mentioned the fact that Allomancers of the present were far less powerful than those of the past. Plus, he didn't know of Duralumin.  The Lord Ruler was attempting to breed out Feruchemy from his own people, both to destroy any history but his own and to prevent someone else from becoming a Ferchemist/Allomancer hybrid.  He doesn't leave anything to chance.  He would not lose control of this item.

It would not surprise me that the Inquisitors had some knowledge of where the stash was, as they were probably assigned to protect it.  However, their actions post lord ruler are not their own.  They are being controlled by an evil force (see the comprehensive metalurgy thread), and they killed the Skaa at the Conventicle of Seran in order to create new Inquisitors, as Hemallurgy requires a blood sacrifice.

Finally, the writings etched in steel were made because they could not be manipulated.  Words written or etched in paper, and even the memories stored in metal minds could be changed by this same evil force.  This is why Kwaan etches his diary in steel.

I just did.  Feel free to fire away at it.  As for this thread.  Is there anything that we missed?  I think we've pretty much covered this topic.  I see we are beginning to have the same discussions in different posts, which could get confusing.  Should we request that this topic be closed?
