Brandon Sanderson / Re: Warbreaker Cover
« on: July 30, 2008, 07:35:03 AM »
The cover looks good  but i have to say i like the orange one. The dresses are supposed to be real colorful.I cant wait for this book to come out. I already read 4.0 but reading a book on the computer just isnt the same as reading it  in ,well a book. Is there a confirmed date for it yet or is it still just fall 2008?

If your a Jordan fan you might find this interesting

(umm hopefully that link works if not copy and paste it)

As cool as it is that  WOT will be a comic book, I think Mistborn would be a much more interesting graphic novel.
The fight scenes alone seem to be made for comic book format.

I love alternate history books and this sounds like a cool premise. If that comet destroyed St. Petersburg at that time Russia would probably be torn apart in a civil war. This would make the outcome of WWI a lot different. With out Russia Germany would only have to fight a one front war. Since germany was the most powerful at the  time they would be able to focus all there power on france.  i think the more likely out come would be a Europe controlled by a WWI Germany. This would mean Germany would have had no war reparations which would mean Nazis would never be able to take control which means no WWII. So would this be a better out come or would this be the worst of 2 evils.A really good author would be able to give a great twist to this story.

I cant wait for the book and no one is even writing it yet.HAHA

I did a short story where i had 6 guys that served an emperor and i called them Patriarchs. I kinda thought that was a cool title. If your planning on making the queen a kinda of  "Mother to the nation" for her title that kinda goes with it.
You could name the women Matriarch.

Wow that was great. I think that it really proved joss's point that he put in his master plan. That you dont need millions of dollars to do something that is really good and that people will enjoy. More power to the writers.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Ruin and Preservation
« on: June 24, 2008, 09:24:32 PM »
So i just finished MB2 and have a few questions about all this. First when alendi and TLR went to the well of ascension was that the first time that it had happened. If not, and if it was preservation that was in the well, would that mean the world that they lived in was influenced more by ruin. This makes me think that it couldnt of been preservation in the well then.If this wasn't the first time that ruin or preservation was fighting to keep away/bring some one to the WOA how many times has it been done before. If this was the first time how did these two powers come to control the world like they did.
The mist spirit(whether or not it is preservation or a servant of some sort) was trying to stop them from using the well but failing that wanted the power used instead of set free. Does this mean that being trapped in the well gives the opposite power to whoever uses it instead of lets it go.But that would mean the mist spirit would want it used instead of as a last resort so im not sure what im saying here.

Im still a novice at making these theories up so you professionals feel free to correct me.

i didnt think people would take that seriously it was meant as a joke. Brandon has always said that AMOL isnt his book he is just helping to finish it cause RJ cant. That said i always love when authors put in little references about other series they have.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Lightsong (Blog Post Reference)
« on: June 17, 2008, 06:12:28 AM »
I liked lightsong. He was ok at the humor but i think it could be a little better. The way he acts is what i liked about him best. He is given anything in the world tht he wants but he still wonders why he deserves it. I think the things we learn about who he really was in the end makes how he became a god and what he does for Susebron even more special.

And on a side note  I may only be a new Brandon fan but when did he right a Septology and where can i get it them if they are real books.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Hollywood Speculation
« on: June 12, 2008, 06:02:54 PM »
I just have one more question concerning hollywood. If Brandon were to sell rights to a mistborn movie or mini series or the like, would he be able to keep some kind of control over it like J.K. Rowling has done with the harry potter movies or does he not  have that kind of control over the franchise(im not sure how Tor handles those kinds of things). It seems to me that when the authors have some kind of say about the final piece it stays truer to the books and the fans are not as disappointed.
I hope it goes well with the movie deal. Best of luck to you Brandon.

i was wondering why Hollywood would pick up a short story written ten years ago back when the author was still in high school and (to my knowledge) only released to the public like 2 monthes ago.

And if he says its not the series we would expect dont we all expect that its not going to be mistborn so it might actually be the one we hope for but dont  expect. . . that made more sense in my head.(translation=it might be mistborn)

Anyways whatever book it is i hope he gets to help the movie and have some control over it so it doesnt turn into another Eragon.

I'm kinda new to P&P rpgs. My brother just got me into them a month  ago so i'm not sure if i can help much but i would love to play a mistborn one. My suggestion would be maybe using the  D&D classes and  converting them to a mistborn class, i.e. tineye=rogue thug=warrior coinshot=ranger and so on.
