Brandon Sanderson / Re: WoK: The Heralds *Spoilers*

I think it's more likely that the visions are just a recording.

Mal. Guy killed me, Mal. He killed me with a sword. How weird is that?

Sorry but the idea of them being a recording makes sense, but this is what got stuck in my head.

Brandon Sanderson / Interesting Line by Hoid in tWoK

"I wonder if you could do that to a man.  Pull him apart, emotion by emotion, bit by bit, bloody chunk by bloody chunk.  Then combine them beck together into something else, like a Dysian Aimian.  If you do put a man together like that, Dalinar, be sure to name him Gibberish, after me.  Or perhaps Gibletish."

-Hoid to Dalinar, The Way of Kings - Chapter 54

Hoid says this line seconds after:

Quote
"I know," Wit said, the looked directly at him.  "Adonalsium."

-Hoid to Dalinar, The Way of Kings - Chapter 54

Is the top quote Hoid speculating on what happened to Adonalsium?  Is her wondering aloud if he will ever be able to reassemble him/it?

I saw no similarities. I think this is a stretch and you're just seeing archetypes.

I think Peter is right here.  When I saw the movie I was thinking some about Mistborn: Final Empire but what I was really seeing was the similarities that came about because of a shared genre, the heist film.  So it wasn't that Arthur(Inception) reminded me of Dox, it was really that both were based on the idea that an eclectic group of thieves would need someone responsible to handle things like renting a warehouse.  So we noticed the character archetypes that were present in both movies.

In reality Vin and Ariadne have very little in common other then they are a new comer to the group/lifestyle.  Also I think Ellen Page should play both, but I digress.

I've been stuck with Ellen Page as Vin for ages.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Brandon Book List

Shouldn't Aether and White Sand be listed as Cosmere books?  Just started to read White Sand, but in his recent chat Brandon said:

And if you're really interested in the larger story happening behind the scenes in my books, those two novels are important.

I think that Brandon has said that Leras actually changed the magic system, making Atium part of the Table and shifting off the other(normal) Temporal metals.

You obviously haven't gotten very far in your course work.  If you'd graduated, you would know that computers run on special smoke.

Yes!  That is why when the power supply breaks you can sometimes see the magic smoke escaping.

I'm inclined to believe they took it as a souvenir rather than to use.

Now I am stuck with the idea that Hoid is gong around to beef up his shard souvenir collection(read like stamp collection).  So he now has a super rare piece of Leras right before Leras died.

So have I read hints on this board that Hoid took a bead of Lerasium from the Well site before Elend did, if so I want to see Mistborn Hoid out flying around sometime.  Or do we think that he has some other use for the Lerasium?

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Snapping, the Shaod, and Returning.

Perhaps the fact that most of the Elantrians we see are brilliant is not a cause for their change but rather possibly an effect of the Shaod.  Maybe there are three aspects to the transformation:

1) Physical - They are changed, white skin, beautiful.
2) Mental - They are able to put together complex problems and solve the math like magic system.
3) Spiritual - They are attuned somehow to being able to access the Dor.

This could possibly fit with some of what we see in Warbreaker too.  The Returned are definitely changed physically, they are also changed spiritually by having one super powerful breath, maybe they are changed mentally and we just don't know it?

PS.  First post, been reading the board for a while and this just occurred to me, so here is my hat in the ring.
