Brandon Sanderson / Re: Recommend a book

I don't think anyone's mentioned Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series yet. It definitely isn't for the fainthearted. He doesn't spoon-feed his readers and the series is rather dark, but it's really amazing.

It didn't seem to me that Rand's loss of humanity was completely tied to the dead women. They were a big part of it, but many other factors went into it as well. Tough decisions he had to make about power and ruling and the like. It's been a while since I've reread the series, so I can't give a specific example. So it seemed to me that when he went to Dragonmount, he was dealing with a lot more than just the women who have died on his account. His loss of humanity had to do with a lot more than the list, so the recovery of his humanity didn't depend on solely on dealing with the list or Moiraine in particular. At least, that's how I read it.

Ink....you are amazing. The sword is very very cool. I really like the mistcloak as well. The only thing that bothers me is I don't think Vin's shirt would be open like that.

I like Tamora Pierce, Anne McCaffrey, C.S. Lewis, and Gerald Morris. I don't think Gerald Morris is very well-known, but I love his books.

Hello all. My name is Ellen. I'm 17 and I live in Arkansas.

One of my friends let me borrow Elantris a while ago and I liked it a lot. Then a few months ago I was in a bookstore looking for some new books to read and saw the Mistborn books with Elantris. I remembered that I had liked Elantris, so I got the first Mistborn and loved it. I got the rest of the trilogy, found Brandon Sanderson's website, which led me to Writing Excuses, which led me here. I haven't really read any of Howard Taylor's or Dan Wells's work, but I'd like to some time. I'll get to it eventually.

I really love to read. Mostly I read fantasy and sci-fi, but I'm open to other genres too. I'd like to write books as a career, but I realize that is hard to do. So, I'd like to be a copy editor of some sort and write when I can, which is probably not much of a plan, but it's what I've got so far.

I like anime, music, soccer, tennis, cats, swimming, kayaking, and piano.

Well, that's all I've got right now. ^_^
