It is only briefly talked about right before Zane goes to the final confrintation between him and Vin. He runs from Straff's tent into the night to a small tree down by the river. He then pulls out his atium, and mistcloak, which he says he doesn't wear because he doesn't like the way it rubs against  protusion in his back made from a spear tip lodged in him from a wound earlier in his life. Hope this helped.

Cosmic, I completely agree, and I think we all agree that the mistings are out there just not found.

The best way I think for noble famlies to have found out was to start shoving metals down the person's mouth. They are rich enough to loose gold and what not. And even with atium they could just have the person puke it back up, and as disgusting as that sounds, most mistborn's wouldn't mind. Atium is atuim, and always gona be pretty strong for it.

As for other ideas for a name, let's try, soothsayer, clairvoyant, augur, revealer, auspex, diviner, or visionary.

Of those  I like soothsayer, because it sounds awesome, and takes me bake to rome. And Clairvoyant, which just rolls off the tongue. after that the only other one is Diviner, but it is not as origanol as the others.

Ok, I can't find it but some where some one brought up the fact that Elend might only have the mistborn powers for so long because the metal he swallowed is what's giving him the power. But we have seen fast burning metals, and slow burning metals, but there is a chance that there is a metal that is permanent. It's not that far out of the realm of possibility. Exspecially if that's what the author wants.   :D.

He was very cool and all, but his heart sick self monalouge(Sp?) got out of hand every once and a while. How can some one with so much power be just so emotionally powerless. Kinda ironic if you ask me.

((off the subject though, I would have to say I really want to see a coinshot in the next book that has a Keslier personality. Testing his powers when ever he can. Man I loved that guy.))

Really? To dark and bad? Most mistings are seen as this way anyhow. I like the name Shade, but it doesn't seem to cover the full extent of their powers. Seer or Oracle seem to be the best fit for these and still fill the mysterious slot.

Shades are known through the ages in many a many a book. Most recently I believe, was the Everis Cale Triology and the Twilight War Triology as well. These of course steming from the even older books of the "Return of the Archmage" when the shadow enclave (almost all shades) returned from the shadow plane and back to faerun.

Anyways, you'll find Shades in many a tales of mythology. Enough that if Atium mistings went by the name, that don't think BranSand would need to pay any dues to any one person.

If I couldn't burn atium or being a full blown mistborn I think I'd have to go with thug, although tineye sounds cool  too, but a thug has a better chance of defending themselves since they don't rely so heavily on metals as say coinshots do. And defense in that world seems pretty important to me, so I'd go with thug.

But I'd really just like to be a mistborn.

But this takes all the skill out of it. You have to be really good at your one thing if your just a misting. Being a mistborn is kinda like always giong to your mom's house to wash your clothes. (bad analogy)

It was more of a free form RP, based before the Collapse. I'll try to find the website it was on, but it had low membership and one of the members started spaming stuff so it lost it's innocense as the web master seemed to have given up. I'll look for it though.

The crowd has spoken and thug seems to be the over all favorite, but it just seems a little one dimensional. You take hits and keep on going. At least with a soother it would take some pretty advanced body language learning. I guess the thing that keeps me going back to the Lurcher and Coinshot is the ingenuty it would take to make them worhwhile.

Take a lurcher for example. Standing between two buildings, both two story, with windows and metal latches. Pulls on the top most window really hard so he shoots up, tugs on the opposite buildings top window causing him to arc away from the origanol building, but still pulling on the origanol latch so his momentum would carry him to the roof. After some practice, both the lurcher and a coinshot would easly be able to fly through the night like a mistborn, and probably be a decent assassin/crowd control figure.

Or they can't aford Atium, and there for have no Idea they have the power. And yes Expensive seems to fit best  ;D. Though I do like ShadowSeer, or Oracle.

Brandon Sanderson / Atium Mistings?
« on: February 14, 2008, 12:34:23 AM »
We have all stumbled around it. But what would you call one of these mistings, you know the cool name like, thug, lurcher, or soother? So far I've come up with Seerer or maybe an Oricale (Sp?). Thoughts?

When ever I played/wrote short stories/ whatever else, I thought that flaring Atium just let you see a little further into the future. I imagine with duralumin inhanced atium you would just see insanely farther into the future, but this would only hinder you as it would give you more time to alter the effects of which know the future has created, effectivly making that small twitch Vin saw on Zane, into a step or jump. Muh more noticeable.
