« on: April 06, 2011, 07:22:39 PM »
The final cage match is upon us!  After 32 entrants, it's all up to Vin vs. Quick Ben.  I'm feeling lucky people... my team, Texas A&M, won the Women's BBall tournament last night, and now Vin can win this nerdy fantasy death match!

Brandon Sanderson / Questions in Regarsd to Alloy of Law
« on: April 04, 2011, 09:08:14 PM »
I was hoping that perhaps Peter could pass along to Brandon some of my burning questions in regards to Alloy of Law?  Barring that, maybe we could get an estimate on when/if Brandon will be giving any interviews in relation to Alloy of Law?

Here are my questions.  Other readers feel free to post your questions as well.

1. Can you give us a short description of the main character and his family history?
2. Which characters from previous Mistborn books will be making an appearance in Alloy of Law?
3.  Is the book supposed to be darker or more light hearted than the previous Mistborn novels?
4.  How far has technology come along?  Have automobiles been invented?  How about firearms?

A 36 year old guy I work with had a heart attack today.  The ambulance had to come by and take him to the hospital.  I hear he's in critical care, and they don't know 100% if he'll make it.  A lot of us are still in shock about the whole thing.

How is this revalent to Brandon?  Brandon is one of my favorite authors, and I don't want to lose him.  I want him to finish the Stormlight Archive series after all and bring us many more books to come!

What I'm getting at is maybe Brandon should start hitting the gym a bit.  I'm no saint myself, but I recently started seeing a personal trainer at the urging of my g/f.   I see my personal trainer 4 times a week for an hour each day, right on the way home from work.  Not a big deal, and it becomes like habit after a while.  Brandon has the  $$$, get 'er done.  Maybe Peter can drop a subtle hint or two with Brandon?

Not trying to be judgemental, just sayin'.  Health is kind of on my mind today...

I don't know who this Jon Snow guy is, but he sounds like a pansy.  All he has is some dog and a sword.  That and he probably is a jerk!

Vin is losing by 200 votes so far and voting ends Thursday.  C'mon people, we need more people to vote for Vin to win.

Brandon Sanderson / Alloy of Law Information?
« on: January 13, 2011, 09:04:24 PM »
Does anyone have information in regards to the new Mistborn book coming out?  I'd like to know about the characters, setting, new alloys and metals, etc.  Thanks in advance.

Brandon Sanderson / WoK: Making Wishes Out West (*Spoilers*)
« on: October 05, 2010, 07:54:07 PM »
So... apparently in WoK there's something or someone out west that you can visit and make wishes with.  The only catch is that there's a curse associated with the wish.

What would you guys wish for?  Would you risk the curse?

If it was up to me, and I knew the desolation was coming, I'd wish for a hero to come back from the dead to help us against the blight.  Who knows, mabye I'd get a Herald, Radiant, or even Vin to come back to life to help out.

However, I bet the more powerful the wish is, the worse the curse is.  I bet if I wished someone back to life, I'd probably die in the process of the wish being completed.

Brandon Sanderson / Timespan for Stormlight Archives? (Spoilers)
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:18:33 PM »
Has anyone asked Brandon what kind of timespan the 10 books of the Stormlight Archives series is going to cover?  I suspect it'll be about a year or two timespan, since the desolation is hanging over everyones' heads, but I'm not 100% sure.

Brandon Sanderson / Authors, Monetary Success and Brandon
« on: October 01, 2010, 08:27:36 PM »
My girlfriend was telling me today that JK Rowling was a billionair from selling Harry Potter books.  I was very skeptical, saying that she had probably made millions, but wasn't a billionaire.  After a bit of research, sure enough, Mrs. Rowling was indeed a billionair, and even more well off monetarily than the Queen of England... go figure.

Not to pry, but is Mr. Sanderson doing well with selling his books?  I know he has released quite a few so far, and they are very popular.  Is he one of the top paid sci-fi/fantasy authors or near the middle or what?  I'm not trying to find out how much money he makes or anything like that, but just how he ranks compared to others in the field.

Brandon Sanderson / WoK: Kaladin and Syl *Spoilers*
« on: September 07, 2010, 08:41:34 PM »
It seems like every time Kaladin does something honorable or heroic, Syl grows in power and/or gains memory.  Do you agree with that?  What is Syl becoming, what is her ultimate form?  Will she top out in power eventually or will she keep going?

Also, do you think there is any chemistry between the two?  Kaladin keeps commenting in his head that Syl is "pretty".  Do you think he'll get the sweets for her or Syl for him?  Will they even be able to get "romantic"?

OK, I just finished listening to the Way of Kings audio book and it took my breath away.  Was that the best ending ever or what?   :o  Brandon is getting better and better with every book he writes, and Mistborn was already one of the best books I’ve read.

One thing that really got to me was just how much I hated the villains in the book.  I really wanted to just reach into the book and strangle those rat bastards, didn’t you?  I’m not truly sure why I disliked those villains more than villains from other books… maybe I hated them more because they seemed more realalistic than the typical mustache twirler?

Anyways, here’s my list in order of villains that need to die.  Forgive my spelling of some of the names because I have only listened to the audio book so far and haven’t read my hardcover copy yet.

(the King of Kharbranth, right?)
Sadious = Sadeas

#1 King Taravangian  – a true bastard
#2 Szeth – I can’t wait for Kaladin to take him out.  He knows what he is doing is horribly wrong, but he does it anyway in the name of his hooky religion or culture or whatever.
#3 Sadeas - I can't believe he betrayed Dalinor even after having his life saved
#4 Amaran
#5 Brightlord Roshone

Brandon Sanderson / Way of Kings on iTunes?
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:09:43 PM »
I wanted to check and make sure that Way of Kings is coming out on iTunes on day one.  Is that the case?

If not, when will it be released in France?

Brandon Sanderson / Mistborn Trilogy Sequel *Spoilers*
« on: July 01, 2010, 04:09:50 PM »
So, after reading the annotations and the summaries of some of Brandon's interviews, we have a good idea of what the next Mistborn Trilogy is going to look like.

Here's a summary of what I've gathered so far:

1. The next trilogy will be set either 500 or 1000 years after the end of Mistborn #3
2. Brandon plans to complete two books in the Stormlight Archives universe then write a book based in another universe (maybe a Mistborn Sequel book), then repeat the pattern
3. The main character will burn Necrosil (someone who can cause duralumin effects in others by touching them and burning Necrosil)
4. Sazed will still be god
5. Marsh and TenSoon will still be around
6. Even though at the end of Mistborn #3 there were some teasers that Sazed may try and bring Vin and Elend back, this will not happen

My Thoughts:

1. I really would like to see Vin again in the sequel trilogy.  I know it may not make story-wise sense to bring her back, but I really enjoyed her character.   I would be satisfied if one of the characters in the new book is a descendant of Vin and Elend, but alas this cannot happen.
2. Hopefully the descendants of some of the other characters show up.  I'm sure Breeze, General Demoux (spelling?) and Spook married their sweeties and had children.

Brandon Sanderson / Breeze's Girlfriend?
« on: July 01, 2010, 03:50:03 AM »
I listened to Mistborn #3 on audio book, so I really can't go back easily and review the last chapters.  I also checked the annotations.

My question:
What ever happened to Breeze's girlfriend?
