Brandon Sanderson / Signing in St.Louis
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:36:55 PM »
For any of you who are going to the St. Louis signing tonight, could you do a favor for the WoT community? Go to Borders at 11745 Olive Boulevard Creve Coeur, MO, and find this display at the entrance http://twitpic.com/2kbxgg. Check out those Way of Kings books and see if any of them have anything inside them. If there is something inside, or if the picture doesn't match the entrance, please tweet so at #wotgh. Thank you very much!

So Brandon had a chat room last night, and Dragonmount.com was kind enough to copy it all.
Here it is for anyone interested:

Did anyone else know that while our favorite author wasn't writing books he was playing tennis in Frankfort,  Kentucky?

Rants and Stuff / Computer Trouble
« on: May 15, 2010, 02:34:44 AM »
I figured that some of you are computer savy, so I figure I'll ask here.

My computer (Windows XP SP2) has been infected by a virus called Data Protector that tells me that my computer is infected and that I need to buy the full version to get rid of the viruses.

Now I used Task Manager to end process dataprot.exe, but it kept starting up. I discovered that a program called iexplorer.exe ( I use chrome so I know that's not right) that kept starting up the program. However, iexplorer.exe keeps starting up. I tried to delete the Data Protector files in the Program Files area, but it won't let me delete the .dll files because 'they are currently in use'.

I use Windows Defender, and it noticed the file, but it didn't do anything about it. (It told me it was going to show Microsoft what it was, because Defender was unsure what it is)

According to research, this file (Data Protector) is a virut, which attaches to exe files and corrupts files. Apparently the only solution is to clean the disk and reinstall windows. Is this really the only solution? And would it be safe to transfer My Documents to a flash drive, and then to my iMac (10.6.3)? I would dislike losing my files on there, but I will if I need to.
