Brandon Sanderson / I'm very keen to see the Mistborn video game.
« on: July 04, 2011, 10:48:57 AM »
I have been thinking about a game for quite some time now. When I checked my Twitter and saw that Brandon was in talks I got VERY excited.

The best way that I can see a Mistborn game working is building an Assassins Creed type sandbox game. I think that AC2 and Brotherhood actually have a Mistborn feeling already. Mistborn would need a looser, yet more precise feeling to it, and to incorperate allomancy and it'd be half done. One example of this would be (for those who have played it) the inclusion of something like the "ice jump" from inFamous 2 as a steelpush jump. Projectile throwing via steelpushing and pulling, etc.

I think that the game could be amazing in this format. What else do you guys think could work? Have you heard any rumors? Peter, can you please talk Brandon into a PS3 release for the game?

You know Inkthinker, you're right about the characters. Perhaps I held it so high because I went on to read The Elder Gods... Compared to that, Althalus is amazing. I think that you should read the Elder Gods just so you know how bad it is.
Ideas like the house and the books and the ways in which they were used were okay in Althalus. However, I take it from my list. I do, however stand by my Sara Douglass claim.

In that Terris camp? I'll have to give it another look...

Haha, the notion of someone criticizing Brandon for his release schedule is laughable. I see him as the hardest working author out there. I'm in awe of his releases over the past few years...

Hey stormblessed, I saw that you mentioned being an Aussie in another thread (sorry to be off topic). I'm glad to see a fellow Australian. I feel like I've been preaching Sanderson on my own here, but hopefully you're spreading his word also.

Hmm. I feel that I may get laughed out of the forums here.

EARLY Raymond E Feist. His current novels have lost focus, but the original Magician trilogy is pretty great.

Robin Hobb's Assassin's series is amazing. Great use of first person writing.

Most of Eddings' work is a touch 'childish', but The Redemption of Althalus has some great ideas and scenes.

EDIT

I can't believe that I forgot this. SARA DOUGLASS. She is an incredible Australian fantasy author. The Axis trilogy, and the trilogy set after it (I forget the name) are a great starting point.

Mmm, somehow I don't think that relying on the name 'Boutch' will be quite enough to trump him. It will help greatly though  :P

Hey Peter, tell Brandon that he can use the name Boutch. If he doesn't, then I will use it in my own novel (and write it under an alias). As such, my novel will be far more epic than the Stormlight Archive...

Yeah, fair points Ink. Now that I look at it again, perhaps all that is needed is some mist swirling around her as she falls. That one thing would bring it more in line with the books for me.

Hmm, I think that Inkthinker's fanart has captured the series better. It's a great image, but I don't feel that the series is about a girl falling with knives in her hands...
