It's just that...he's so drastically changing Way of Kings from the original version that I find it highly unlikely that he read something from the original version.

He mentioned that the part he was reading, if it shows up in the final versions, probably won't be included until book three of what he said was 10 books he was planning (if I remember correctly).

I was at the DC book signing last night.  Lots of fun.

There were about 30 people there.  Brandon read chapter 2 from Hero of Ages, and then, I believe, a excerpt from the series he was working on before the Wheel of Time book deal came along (something about Kings, I can't remember the title right now).

He signed all the books put in front of him, and was very conversational with each person.  I really liked the personal interaction, and the eye contact from Brandon.  I've been to signing where you never get within 10 feet of the author, and the book you get back signed may or may not be the one you gave the store employee to hand to him.

He answered questions for 45 minutes afterwards, but I had to leave when he started answering spoiler questions about Hero of Ages.  I've finished the book, but it was getting late, and I had a long drive to get home.

All in all, a great time.

I'm also glad that Brandon is coming to Bailey's Crossroads, VA, which is at least somewhere near where I live/work.

It has been several years since an author I like cane anywhere near here.  I'm still hoping that guys like Jim Butcher and Pat Rothfuss make it to my area with their next books.

Woo Hoo! We finally have a location for the DC signing! Though its on the complete wrong side of the city for me. :D

I've got the same problem.  It is an incredible schlep to get to Bailey's Crossroads from my office, especially on a week night with rush hour traffic.

It will be TOTALLY worth it, though!

I already have a signed copy of Elantris but I lent it to my English teacher two years ago and it came back to me all beaten up. D:  So I got a new one. :D

This is why I don't loan out my books.

I can tell you, I am very happy that I got into this series late.  Just like one of the other folks mentioned about starting WoT so late, I only have to wait until next month for HoA :D

Agreed!  I just discovered the Mistborn series, and finished book 2 last week.  Now I'm reading Elantris while I wait for the Hero of Ages.

I hate waiting for the next book in a series, so I always enjoye it when I find a new to me series that already has a couple of books written.

I'm Icarus.  Male.  34 years old.

I just finished The Final Empire & Well of Ascension, having heard of them from various blogs (pat's fantasy hotlist) and author recommendations.

I'm still fairly new to reading sci-fi and fantasy, but some of my current favorite authors are Pat Rothfuss, Jim Butcher, Scott Lynch, and Naomi Novik.

I've been picturing it as being similar to the cloaks that the Fellowship wears in the LOTR movies, but black, and in shreds.

Has anyone heard anything further about the Washington DC stop on the Hero of Ages book tour?  His website has a date of 11/10/2008, but there is no location.

Thank you.
