Brandon Sanderson / Re: Wheel v. Mist

Misborn.  Less powerful, but it makes up for it in subtlety and just plain normalcy.  The subtlety is a big thing for me though...if  had that much power, I wouldn't want it to be as obvious as it is for channelers.

Aes Sedai/channelers are cool, but they live too long for my taste and they are just plain snooty :P

Yeah, the Oreseur/Tensoon thing took me completely by surprise the first time I read the books, but rereading them now it's not surprising.  His personality changes subtly, and he doesn't know everything he should.

It's funny, but I think I've learned more about foreshadowing by reading Brandon's books than I could ever have learned in a class.  My creative writing class didn't even come close :P

Are we completely sure Zane's dead?  As I recall, there was no body disposed of....

This thread is so interesting; I love all of y'all's speculations! (Makes me realize just how much I tend to read on the surface and not dig out the deep details until the umpteenth read-through  ;D )

Brandon Sanderson / feruchemy and vin...thoughts *spoilers*
« on: March 15, 2008, 02:41:16 AM »
I am re-reading MB1 right now, and came across the section where Vin tries to burn one of Sazed's metalminds.  It made me wonder if perhaps she has some hidden ability with feruchemy as well as her obvious allomantic and possible hemalurgic talent.

Maybe this has already been figured out or "solved", but here is what I was wondering:

If she was able to sense the stored power within the metalmind just as one feruchemist could with someone else's metalmind, might she have the power to use feruchemy herself?  Is this linked somehow to her earring?  (what a twist b/t the three types of power, eh?!)

I've been too busy lately with classes to look through both books and find other possible references to this, but I keep thinking that it might fit in somewhere else as well although I can't think of where.

Do any of you who know all the in's and out's of the books and annotations have some thoughts on this?  Am i totally off track, and if I am, could you explain it? :P

Brandon Sanderson / Re: New Mistborn One Cover Art
« on: February 19, 2008, 12:25:14 AM »
I like it a lot!  Much, much better than any of the other covers, imho.  The realism fits the novels better...the worlds are so realistic, that to have cover art that is so, "free-form", i guess, seems to clash.  This picture, though, I like!

I always just figured Saze was a nickname, and never gave much thought to how they're interchanged.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Theory on why Vin is so powerful *spoilers*

Just a thought, but I wonder if being pierced w/something (vin's earring, the inquisitor's spikes, etc) has anything to do with being able to draw power from the mist.  It seems to react differently to Vin, Zane, and the inquisitors...maybe that's just happenstance, but maybe not.
