Thank you very much... It's not too late, in fact it's just in time.   :)

I thought I could delete this, but I can't seem to see how.

Rob, sorry to clutter up your space here.  I'll delete this message tomorrow.

I'm supposed to do a book signing at the "family center" Seagull Book and I have no idea where that is.  Can you help?

I still don't know any hard numbers, but I made Seagull's best selling list...

I guess it's still all relative.

Well, we've talked before about how hard it is to track numbers, but I just read a press release from Covenant and it said that since June 1, they've sold about 3500 copies of my book.  Now this is just books sold to book stores, so I'm sure that of that 3500 about 1000-1500 are still in stores, but I have been told that a lot of the seagull stores have been reordering, so that is probably good news.

I'm a bit surprised because I've been tracking Deseret Book numbers and they have only sold a whopping 80 copies.

Anyway, hopefully this is a good sign.

Another Review...

There have been a lot of LDS reviews, but I was wondering why there haven't been any other religions review it.  Then I came across this.

So, I was doing book signings yesterday and finally worked up the courage to ask the clerks if anybody had actually been buying my books.

I should mention, that I've been tracking sales on Deseret Book, because it's fairly easy to do.  I have nothing to compare it to, so I don't know if it's doing good, bad, , normal, whatever.

However, what IS surprising is that the number of books sold by the entire Deseret chain the first week, was the same number that this one store had sold in two weeks.

And when I asked at the second store, they had sold the same amount as the first store.  So these two Seagull Book stores had sold as many books as all of the Deseret Book stores combined.

It's a bit disquieting to think that my book is only going to be marketed to folks in Utah, and that the biggest LDS book chain isn't going to bother marketing it at all...

I think I'm going to release my next book under Creative Commons.

:)

Just saw this.  Nope, I will not be there, I didn't even know it was happening.  I'm sure my invitation to the event was lost in the mail...  :)

A self-fulfilling book list.  If you keep a book on the NYT best sellers list for long enough, it will eventually sell a lot of books.

Interesting, I had no idea that was the case.

So, I'm in a book store up in Logan, and they had an LDS section 'top seven' section.  I'm not sure why it wasn't top ten, or top five.  Anyway, my book was sitting on this shelf between numbers 3 and 4.  This surprised me because I've been watching as I go to the Seagull and I haven't even cracked the top ten.

So, I couldn't help it and asked the clerk.  "Is this book really doing that well?"

She looked a little embarrassed and said, "Well, actually those numbers don't really mean anything.  We just put the new stuff there..."

I thought it was quite funny...

Just a quick update on book signings.  If anybody lives in Logan I will be at the Seagull Book and Tape today (Friday, June 24th).  Then I will be in Ogden, Riverdale, and Layton tomorrow...

I purchased Battlefield 2 last night (on DVD, that was quite handy), and it is a very enjoyable game.  However, the true fun would come, I think, in getting several friends that would make up a squad, and really get to know each others' strenghth and weakness.  Work together, practice together, and then go kick some tail.

I thought about e-mailing Robby, but I didn't want to appear anxious, even though that is exactly what I am.  Plus I'm jumping the gun.  There was no advertisement, I'm a first time author, there have been no reviews, so I can't expect much.  My numbers are based purely on cover art and friends buying it, and since I use a pen name, the second group is probably smaller than it should be.

Anyway, I'll keep tracking DB numbers.
