something like that. I remember it only vaguely.

I haven't ever played a campaign that I really felt was successful or satisfying, and some were a lot worse than others.

did I come up with that? it seems a little unlikely, but I DO remember coming up with a character name randomly once (I created that character ENTIRELY randomly, rolled everything on the sheet) (well, okay, I fudged a little while rolling, but who doesn't?)

so anyway I'll take credit if no one else does

wasn't my name Orga something?

anyway, not all US-targeting terrorists are middle eastern. McVeigh, etc.

and Maddox is misinterpreting estimates of his popularity.

Everything Else / Worldcon 2006, Los Angeles, rates rise Sept 12th!
« on: September 09, 2004, 02:11:15 AM »
Okay, I have just registered for Worldcon's 2006 edition. Here's the relevant info:

LACon IV, the 64th World Science Fiction Convention
Anaheim Convention Center
Aug. 23-27, 2006 (Wed-Sun)
$125 until Sept. 12, 2004

Yeah, Anaheim isn't even in Los Angeles, but it's got a great convention center. Frankly, it's far bigger than Worldcon needs--the Boston convention center was just about the right size, perhaps a little larger than needed. Anaheim convention center is huge, though not on the San Diego scale. Anime Expo had 30K people, with a couple other events going on at the same time. LACon II (1984) was the largest Worldcon ever, at 8,365. LACon III (1996) was only 6,703. Both were at that same location.

BTW it's right next to Disneyland.

Probably since they didn't check us in until late late.

I've added Westercon to the options, just for kicks.

Note: NASFiC will have fantasy content as well. Worldcon is the world science fiction con, but there was no lack of fantasy.

That is...very odd.

I wonder if there was some racial discrimination there? People getting fired for no good reason? Frankly that sounds more likely than them being involved in some terrorist cell.

Here's some options:

NASFiC, CascadiaCon, Seattle, Sept. 1-5 2005, http://www.cascadiacon.org/
$85 through Nov. 30, this year

World Fantasy, Madison WI, Nov. 3-6 2005, http://worldfantasy.org/2005/
$110 through Oct. 31 this year

Westercon, Due North, Calgary Alberta, July 1-4 2005, http://calgaryin2005.org/
$60 through Nov. 1 this year
(Note: Anime Expo is always that weekend, so I wouldn't be able to make it.)

Okay Brandon, just want to run things down/finalize...

Hotel: Sheraton

Since your flight gets in about an hour before mine, how about you just take the shuttle ($10) to the hotel and check in? Unless you really want to wait for me (I'm coming through Cincinnati at 9:37, Delta) at the airport.
(Eric, when are you arriving?)

When you check in you should be able to reserve keys for Eric and me to pick up separately, no?

um...is there anything else to go over? If for some reason we don't meet up quickly, we can definitely meet at your 1:00 panel.

We've got each other's phone numbers.

No. TOKYOPOP does lots of cons, but I doubt Worldcon is even on their radar.

If I'm still around in 2006 when it comes to Anaheim, I'll work on convincing them.
