Yeah, I'm gonna attempt again. I've got some free time on my hands, so why not use it for something as fun as writing? You know, the kind of fun that induces scatterbrain syndrome and mental breakdowns  :)

Holy crap, I love it! Very cool approach to the character, with the peeling wallpaper and such. And a wonderful omen of Book 2....

Thanks! I read that book two was called Mr. Monster, so I had to throw that in there ;D I'm dying waiting for its release! I'm glad that you mentioned the Book Depository in another post, because it's gonna save my life (and my wallet).

Hey, checked out the site the other week. I must say, you guys really make me laugh! Not to mention I've picked up a few books you've mentioned, and I guess I must now agree with you that you do indeed have fantastic taste  ;)

Read I am Not a Serial Killer on vacation and loved it! And for shame, Dan, making me order your book from the UK! Hee hee! Anyway, ended up starting this the day after I finished the book, and putting it off much longer than I should have. So here's my contribution to the world of Dan, cause there's just not enough John Cleaver out there.

I'm just started White Night by Jim Bitcher. Got hooked on the Dresden files a few weeks ago while on vacation and what can I say, I'm already on book 9. And I thought it would take me forever to catch up...

I have The Blade Itself and Lies of Locke Lamora both sitting on my shelf ready to be read. You guys make it sound both fabulous and not at the same time, so I'm quit intrigued to start them.

I'm trying to get something done for WotF as well. And I'm gonna do it this quarter! I've been telling myself that for about a year now, but always chicken out. But I swear, this quarter will be the one!

Good luck to you guys as well!

I have a hard time concentrating on writing if I'm listening to music, so when I do listen to music I usually have to pick something that doesn't have any words. I'm with Ookla 0n this one, I'm fond of anime and video game soundtracks. .hack and final fantasy are my particular favorites.

Writing Group / Re: Chapter Length
« on: March 07, 2009, 04:54:29 AM »
I say just write the chapter, and let it be whatever length it ends up. Adding a lot of discription and text to make it longer will just bog it down, and trimming everything out to make it shorter wouldn't serve a whole lot of purpose, either. Sure, it's nice to sit down and know exactly how long it'll take to read a chapter (I usually determine my stopping point with chapters), but what's the point if the actual writing is butchered in the process?

So long as it's not a library book (or a friend's!)

Oh, please, don't go there! I work at a library, and you do NOT want to know the kind of things people do to books (shiver). I'm still trying to find out how it is they can stuff a book through the drop slot twice its original size from water damage and think we won't notice.

Movies and TV / Re: Worst Movie?
« on: November 11, 2008, 08:45:24 AM »
I'm going to say The Happening. It'd probably not the worse movie I've seen, but I did just see it, and it sucked so bad I can't get it out of my mind. Half way through the movie I wondered is Shyamalan was crazy. How could someone sane come up with a plot like that? Or maybe, how could anyone sane dish out the money to make that load of crap.

Yay, congrates Dan! I'm excited to read your book as well. Dang, though. 2010? Are you serious? Might have to get a U.K version, too.

Oh gosh, how long has it been since I last posted??? You know, I don't even want to think about it.

Anyway, I was reading a couple books, and some of them I was really liking... I just can't remember what they are. Shoot.

Oh! Jumper. I'm really enjoying Jumper. Totally different than the movie. So if you didn't like the movie, you might like the book (like me), but if you did like the movie you might not get into it.

I'm also completely addicted to the Fables comics. Yeah, you got to love the Big Bad Wolf.

If you can't fit enough books on one of those, then you probably read too fast.

Ummm, I don't think it's possible to "read too fast". Isn't one of the biggest things with owning a Kindle the fact that you can carry around a ton of books with you?

Brandon Sanderson / Re: Favorite Sanderson Book/Series

Yeah, I have to say Mistborn, too. Though, there's a special place in ym heart for Elantris. It came to me when there seemed to be nothing but mediocrity at the library.

Books / Re: review: Fruits Baskets Volume 1 (manga)

Fruits Basket is fun, but I think the crazy panels anf the art might throw new readers off. Actually, it almost threw me off, and I've been reading manga for years. Hope not, though, cause this is a really good series.
