Homemade apple pie rules the roost, followed closely by homemade pumpkin pie, then homemade pistacio pie.

When you say "homemade" do you mean from a pumpkin or from a can of pumpkin, cause really I consider homemade even if the filling is from a can. I had "real" homemade pumpkin pie once. Some guys I knew, while I was single, actually took a pumpkin, spooned out the insides (minus seeds), cooked it, added the spices, I made the crust, and we put it together in the oven. It tasted the same as the canned stuff, but had a different texture. I felt like it wasn't worth the trouble (unless you're trying to use up a pumpkin so it doesn't go to waste).

My favorite thing to do when making pies is to buy the refrigerated pie crusts (that are rolled up). They're just as good as homemade. You can get two for about 2 bucks and it's so much easier than making it yourself. I know, crust isn't that hard, but I make a mess every time and it's a pain to clean up.

When I was just on the first page of this thread, I got ads for mosquito traps. How could it possibly come up with that? It's not like there is any mention of them on the whole thread (although now that I've posted this there will be and it may come up with ads for it on this page now).

I just don't understand exactly what Charlie thought he could do. Was he going to baptize Aaron himself? And in the Ocean? Since he's Catholic he must know that you need blessed holy water and it needs to be done by a Priest! Unless he was going to convince Eko to do it right there, and he was counting on Eko walking around with some holy water, I don't know exactly what Charlie thought he was going to do. Charlie couldn't baptize Aaron himself, duh. He's not a Priest! I just don't get it.

Yeah, but some of us are really lazy and not willing to actually go to a bookstore or library to take a look.

And when I say some of us, I mean me.

It's called Kingdom Keepers, and is being published by Disney.  Great cover--although it's hard to describe, and I think you'd have to check it out in person to get the full effect.  It's got this rainbow shiny Disney World castle in the background, and . . . well--go check it out at a bookstore or something.  When I saw it, I thought of this thread.

Or you could see what the cover looks like on Amazon here.

I could be wrong, but I think the main guy who shot the arrow is from King of Queens. Plays Spence (if anyone's seen that show). Funny, though.

First of all, if people knowing he's only a millionaire and not a billionaire can ruin his reputation, that is sad (although I don't think most people even care much about Trump or how much he's worth). Second, if you go through the trouble to become not only rich, but in the public's eye, I think you're setting yourself up to be defamed. I personally would rather be rich and unknown (if possible). I don't hear stuff in the news about Steve Jobs or Michael Dell (who are worth approx. 3.4 billion and 14.2 billion respecively, stats given by the NY Times). That's because they don't push themselves in the public eye. Trump annoys me!

Yes, actually. I guess I missed that info. There are a few there I like including Veronica Mars as well. Yea. I'm glad they'll be staying!

All I can say is Gilmore Girls better not be negatively affected by this. I really enjoy it. I doubt it will, though, it has quite the following. (Although it's in its 6th season, so who knows how long it will be before it dies a natural death.)

Thanks for everyone's sympathy. I guess it's just one of those things. I think there are things that all of us don't like doing. For some it's dishes, others it's laundry, and others cooking. I like cooking okay, but it's deciding what to cook and having all the ingredients that bugs (plus the cleanup).

Lately, I've actually gone to having protein shakes for dinner. I will still sometimes make food for my husband because he needs more calories than me, but one cup of milk plus protein mix and I'm full for the rest of the night. Plus since it's only like 220 calories, I can have a treat too, if I so choose (although I have to say, the protein really curbs your appetite, so you don't really even desire treats). It's been really great cause they're fast, easy and I don't have to think of what to make. And since my husband actually likes things like Ramen, canned foods (soups, vegetables, and such), mac & cheese, etc., I just cook him something easy like that along with a protein shake for him and I'm done. We just started this a week and a half ago and it's going great.

My husband thinks that if I'm cooking, why would he need to help. It's like pulling teeth to get him to just grate some cheese. And when he does cook I offer to show him and help him cook something harder (you know, harder than Ramen or Mac & Cheese), and even then. I have shown him how to brown ground beef, and thaw out meat, so he does know that now, but he is very averse to cooking. And I know it's not the clean up thing because he wouldn't have think about cleaning up afterwards. It wouldn't cross his mind. Even when I was sick a few weeks ago I had to beg him just to make me something, anything. It's so frustrating!

Don't be alarmed by threads getting off topic. That happens a lot, although it's all right to bring them back on topic.

That would be ironic for Olaf to burn. It seems like the last book could go in so many directions that it's hard for me to speculate. I'm excited for it to come out, though. It doesn't look like the Web site for Lemony Snicket says when it will be. Guess we'll just have to wait for an announcement.

First I'd like to point out that there was a study that showed that even the Queen doesn't speak the "Queen's English" as told to me by a Linguistics major friend of mine. Just a fun tidbit.

Two, to German_Hamburger, please DO NOT post four times in a row (in fact, don't post more than once in a row). If you want to add something after posting, click on "Modify" and edit your post. This is one of the rules in the FAQ. Also, listen to Archon and e. They make valid points. We are here for intelligent discussions. Thank you.

I made some Mexican Meatloaf the other night which was really, really good.

I really wish my husband was into that. When I don't feel like cooking and I get him to actually make me something, he considers Hamburger Helper too difficult and time consuming (he's made it a few times in our years of marriage, but usually isn't willing to go through the trouble). It's annoying that if I want something to eat it's always up to me to do it. Although on the plus, he is always very grateful for me cooking for him and does not take it for granted. I really appreciate that.

Guys who cook are awesome! (Even if only sometimes.)
