Movies and TV / Re: The Best of 80's Movies

I know this doesn't qualify as the "best" of the 80s, but when I was a kid, I loved to watch Girls Just Want to Have Fun with Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker. That was a fun movie.

That is so exciting! I can't wait till we can buy something, but unless prices go down in the next year, all we'll be able to afford is a small condo that doesn't even have a garage! A couple years ago prices were so much lower. How frustrating!

No, it's a new reality TV show. Everyone at home is watching this all happen with hidden cameras! . . . Well, it's true, we are.

Those animals would of died anyway! You have no proof it was me!

As an editor, I feel compelled to point this out because it's a funny mistake. It's would've (i.e. would have) not would of. They sound similar, but have totally differen't meanings. Funny! :D

Everything Else / The New Orleans Library Needs Donations
« on: March 30, 2006, 03:30:36 PM »
I figure since most of us are book people, you all might want to know about this. They mostly need money because right now they don't have the staff or shelves to deal with books, but they need books, too. Check out the site which is a FAQ on how to help them out.

I personally would've taken the money, given it back to the men and said that you were given information after your dad's death saying where it was and whose it was. Then if that didn't get them to go away, I'd rat out my dad. I mean the guy's a real jerk. It also would've prevented Helen from leaving which leads to a very sad John later on (and one who thinks he's dating a 1-900 chick). So sad!

I have been thinking to myself, though, that even if they did find the balloon, and the grave, and it really was his wife (and not the real Henry Gale) that he could still be an Other, right? I mean not at first, but they could've found him and told him if he wanted to live he'd have to help them. And then they'd brainwash him till he was one of them. So how does the balloon story really prove he's not one of the Others?

If she controls you, and you control the ninja monkeys, and the ninja monkeys control her, and she controls you, and you control the the ninja monkeys, and the ninja monkeys control her, and she controls you, and you control the the ninja monkeys, and the ninja monkeys control her . . .

Well, I think it's ironic you say that because my mom wouldn't let us watch the Simpsons because she felt that they were a bad example on how you should treat your family. It's interesting how two moms could see the same show totally differently!

Notorious Notions probaly just explains things.Like the Unauthorized Autobiography. I don't think it's  the 14th book. In in fact I don't think there's a 14th book. Any one who reads Notorious Notions please explain further.

I'd go with that: it's not a 14th book (just as the Unauthorized Autobiography is not one of the books). There are only going to be 13--13 is an unlucky number and the 12 was the Penultimate Peril, which means second to the last peril, so only 13 in the actual series. I really need to get the Notorious Notions. On to Amazon.com . . .

I'm prone to believe the miracle child thing. I'm starting to suspect that the writers are setting up Sun and Jin so that the two don't leave the island with the rest of the group. Think about it, their lives before the island sucked. They are definitely better off on the Island, though they don't seem to realize it. Perhaps they are going to defect over to the others.

I agree that their life is better on the island, but that is not a place I'd want to raise children. I'd want them to have be able to have friends, and one day marry. I don't think that going to live with the Others is an option. If/when they get off the island, I would think they would just both go to the US. I'm sure Sun's father figures they died on the way over, so they would be free from his oppression and with Jin's business experience, they'd probably be all right (once he learns English, which he's starting to).

Well, I want to believe Sun too and it's not like there haven't been other miracles. If Locke can go from wheelchair to walking, why couldn't Jin be cured of not being able to have children? And like Parker said, why would she tell him what the doctor said if she was going to lie about who the father was?

Also, think about the timing. Sure she could have been pregnant the whole time they've been on the island, but wouldn't she have noticed something sooner? I could be wrong, but I thought you started to get morning sickness within the first two weeks and they've been on the island for over 40 days, right? Could be wrong, never having been pregnant myself and all.

I will definitely look there when I am ready to buy, but the problem is whenever I have put that into the search criteria for Realtor.com, it has not come up with anything in my price range. It's true that I'm poor and that is partly why, but even putting in $150,000 to $250,000 for the search criteria only brought up 7 results (and this includes condos, townhomes, and single family houses), with no results for less.

You can't really live somewhere that has nothing in your price range, which is why I'll probably have to stick to Orem/Provo/Springville area when I look for a place.

Everything Else / Software Virtualization
« on: March 24, 2006, 11:51:47 AM »
Have you heard? There's a new program called Software Virtualization Solution. Essentially what you do is put a program on a "virtual layer" and then if anything goes wrong and the program gets corrupted, whether from a virus or your kids messing with your computer, all you have to do is reset the layer and it's fixed. I haven't used it much myself, but I have a few co-workers who've used it and say it's great. I figured for the geek guys (and maybe girls) on the site, they might be interested in it. But here's the best part: it's free for personal use! You can get it off of Download.com and use it on a home computer for personal use for free.

Here's some info from the company site. And here's where you get it off of Download.com. I'd really be curious what you guys think of this.
