Ooo. Nice feature. I'm all for that for the really annoying ones.

Yeah, I haven't been able to participate in the poll on the front page either.

And I'm doubly offended that you had a pool party and didn't invite me.

Nah. He avoids everyone. Even me and Fish.
He avoids me so much I don't know who he is.  ;)

Who is this elusive E3?

Just a website for now: http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/  The movie won't be out until Dec 2007.

Great book by Philip Pullman. Looks like it could be an awesome movie. Here's hoping they do it right!

Even so, those names are sick and wrong.

With so many other ways to mess up your children, you think people could at least manage to give them normal names.  :P

I'm happy because I was able to use Paint to dress up my Chimera for the holidays.

The picture is so small, you can barely see. But if you look closely, you'll see my Santa Hat and Festive Wreath around my neck.  ;D

Hmm... I can see I'll have to hack the code again to make myself level infinity.

Hah! I'm at a higher level than you, Tage. And you've been on here forever.

Now that's just sad.

I love this play. And I love the movie with Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson.  ;D

Yeah, there are places that I can take both my phone and computer to get fixed. It's that *leaving the house* thing that's a problem.  :P

I'll get over it. Maybe I'll feel up to it Monday.

I don't like it. I have to say I wasn't a huge fan of the hardcover either. I think it is a significant step down from the cover art for Elantris. I know you weren't allowed to use the same artist, but I think it's too bad.

So, saying that I wasn't a huge fan of the hardcover, I'd have to say that this is a step down from that. It's not a style I'm a fan of. I don't like how everything is elongated and out of proportion. Plus, the lightening lines are confusing,  and the grim reaper is just weird. The hardcover at least seemed to make sense.

The top of my 'f' key fell off my laptop. I can still use it (obviously), but I'm afraid of wearing out the sensor. I need to go get it fixed. But my extreme anxiety and other health crap isn't allowing it.

Oh, and my cell phone broke so it can't recharge. It's dead, I can't get my numbers, I don't know them, so I can't call anyone. Though, the only person I talk to regularly is MsFish. I can email her my home phone number. But this is just another thing on my To Do List when I'm falling apart and can't "To Do."

I'm tired of my life. I'm tired of my problems. I wish I could give up, instead of soldiering on.

Sorry about there being no Stranger than Fiction review. I haven't been able to see it yet.

I may not be able to do reviews for awhile. At least, I'm not going to make any promises. When I have one--if I have one--I'll submit it. Otherwise, don't expect anything from me. Sorry.

Writing Group / Re: National Novel Writing Month 2006
« on: December 02, 2006, 09:11:03 PM »
I didn't make it this year. But, I did write 20,000+ words that I wouldn't have written otherwise. And, considering what's being going on in my life, that is quite an accomplishment. Plus, I really enjoy what I've written and think I can actually finish this novel. So, I'm proud of myself.

My goal for next month is to write another 20,000 words. Taking everything into account, including my health and temperment, I think that is a challenging yet attainable goal. Plus, I did it once, so I know I can do it again. By then I should be 2/3 done with my novel. Then, if I write another 20,000 words in January, I should have a finished novel by February. Yay!

Hauf--I'm not exactly sure how to incorporate writing into normal life, except to set aside writing time everyday or every week--some set time that you sit down and write. Even if you don't feel like it. Even if you have writer's block and hate your characters. Then, eventually, you'll train your mind and body to expect this "writing time" and it will come. That's what I'm trying to do, at least. And it's working, for the most part.

I really disliked this movie. The first thing that bugged me was all the sexual innuendos. Dreamworks does that alot in their movies--like Shrek and Shrek 2. I was willing to overlook it if the plot was good--adults would get the jokes, kids wouldn't. (But I certainly wouldn't want my child to quote things like 'I just need your body' or 'Let's talk about eggs, baby' and other stupid things the songs referenced. So the music had no enjoyment for me at all--it just made me cringe.)

I agree with Nessa that the animation was nice. But also that nice animation does not a good movie make. My 4 year-old nephew and 2-year-old neice were very fidgety and then fell asleep--the movie did not hold their attention. Not a single one of the adults felt it was worth their time--everyone had something to complain about. So it seems that by trying to accomplish too much they failed to appeal to adults or children.

They demonized humans with no retribution. This happens at times in animal fantasies--but it seemed heavy-handed and extreme in this case. And, like HOM said, it was depressing. Not lite and happy at all, like the commercials lead you to believe. And the message at the end is crammed down your throats. After there being so little to eat until then, it just leaves a bad aftertaste. I'm all for saving the environment--but it feels like some radicals with a serious agenda wrote this script.

Yep. Definitely not one I'll purchase, or bother to see again. And I know it's not making it's way into my sister-in-law's DVD collection--she hated this movie with a passion, and the kids could care less.

Having my 2-year-old neice wake me up every morning this week with a hug and a kiss has been very, very nice.  :)
