Books / Re: review: Stardust
« on: January 05, 2007, 06:30:46 PM »
I liked this book, but it definitely has a more "Diana Wynne Jones" feel than a typical "Neil Gaiman" feel. And, I'd rather pick up a DWJ's book, honestly. Stardust was nice and interesting--but I'd rather read one of Jones's quirky Chrestamonci tales or Gaiman's Netherwhere (which is my favorite of his) than this watered-down version of Gaiman. It was nice, but it just didn't feel like Gaiman in true form. Neverwhere is much better--even Good Omens, in my opinion.

Of course not. Smoking is dirty and gross and I cough enough as it is.

The person below me looks lovely in orange spandex.

I'm happy to have Fish here in SoCal with me. We are having lots of fun adventures. So much fun, in fact, that I think I'll refuse to let her go back to Utah. I'll get lost on the way to the airport or hijack her plane or something...and then she'll stay forever!  ;D

I saw some Pee Wee Herman shows on Cartoon Network a month or so ago and the guy was majorly creepy!!! Like, to the point I'm not sure I'd want my child to watch it.

But I didn't feel like that as a kid. I *loved* that show. But there was something just weird about the show from my adult perspective--I can't even put a finger on it--just a general feeling of ickiness. And the conversation between Pee Wee and the female phone operator--that had all sorts of weird sexual tension going on that was completely lost on me as a child (fortunately).

I know, I know. I grew up and became an adult and can no longer enjoy the joys of Pee Wee's Playhouse, it seems. Oh, the tragedy.

Site News / Re: TWG New Years Party 2006!
« on: January 03, 2007, 08:14:20 AM »
Well, we sinners had a great time on New Years Eve at Fellfrosch's house. Fell, Fell's wife, me, Tage, Oldie, and someone known as Lovebasket played Munchkin. Oldie won.  :)  Then we made jokes about how long Dick Clark has been on TV. We decided he must be a creature of the undead kept alive by a sorceress necromancer who poses as his wife. We drank Martinellis and celebrated the coming in of the New Year together. It was fun! And I enjoyed seeing Fell and his wife Dawn again, as well as their darling new addition Morgan.

Thanks for making my visit fun!  ;D

He doesn't seem to understand that this forum is different from others and stupid behavior won't be tolerated. Also that either (a) many of us know each other in real life and keep up with this to stay in touch or (b) have found this site because it discusses things intelligently that are of interest to us, no matter what age we are, and we don't need or want some pre-pubescent reject making insulting or idiotic posts.

I hope he goes somewhere else, if he keeps acting like this. The less idiots on this forum, the better.

I am very happy to be home for Christmas (rather than in someone else's home). And that the major redecorating is done, so my mom will stop being so tense.

Now, if only my room wasn't covered with my parent's stuff. Hopefully it won't take long to organize their room, so I can get mine back.

Lol. Seriously. It's funny how you'll miss mistakes, unless you're looking for them. I don't know if I've ever even looked at the title--I just skip right to the forum.  ::)

Merry Christmas dear TWG goers! Here's my Christmas present: a super cool Animaniacs parody of the song "Noel" at YouTube.

Aah, memories.  :D

I think that's their shortest review yet.

This looks good. Can't decide if I want to see it or not (don't usually watch R-rated). DiCaprio seems to have overcome the stigma from Romeo+Juliet and Titanic.
