Writing Group / Grammatical type question
« on: February 16, 2008, 12:37:26 AM »
So, I didn't see anything that says I can't post grammar questions in here, so I'll go ahead and put myself on the chopping block and ask.

When trying to make a nick name for someone, what is the generally accepted way to write their name. For example, I am trying to use the first and last initials of a character's name, both of which are V, to give them the nickname 'VV'.

However, just writing 'VV' just doesn't seem the right way to do it for me, and 'VV' and 'W' are too similar looking that I wouldn't want to cause confusion. 'V.V.' seems a bit too formal for a name that is suppose to be an intimate nickname between two people. Perhaps spelling it phonetically would be better, such as 'Vivi' ?

Any thoughts are appreciated.
