Title: ARE YOU WATCHING WIMBLEDON!?!?!?!
Post by: Miyabi on June 23, 2010, 08:38:16 PM

Longest match ever.  On game 100 something, fifth set at 55 - 55. I can't believe this.  It's ridiculous!  You have to admire the determination in these guys.

Yeah....10 hours of tennis = "MY EVERYTHING IS BURNING AND DYING!!" no matter how fit you are. They better not let themselves cool down too much, or they won't be able to move.

I guess they've actually only been playing for 7 hours today, but the first 3 hours were played yesterday.  They started this set today.  It's still 10 hours for this match though.  Jeeze.

Oh wow. The one guy had match point, and the other guy served up an ace. Whew. And then when he won they've called the match for the day. TBC tomorrow.

Craziness.

Suspended for darkness 59 all.  A total of 193 aces! A total of 81 unforced errors. 139 aces took place in the fifth set!  Fifth set has taken over 7 hours.  9 hours and 58 minutes played so far!  Can't wait for tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case anyone was wondering, Isner won after 11 hours of play.

As a side note; Nadal, my favorite tennis player, won his 2nd round match! YAY! =D

Too busy watching World Cup.  The US win yesterday was EPIC (even though it should never have come down to that--bastard refs have sucked in every single game).

That said, I watched the highlights of the tennis match.  While I am proud of those 2 for competing and not giving up (unlike Mahut's futbol counterparts), 11 hours of a match not involving the top 4 players is boring to me.

I think the fact that they are less known made it even better, because it gave these guys a time to shine and get recognized for something other than winning.  That could very well just be me though.

If I had any of the voyeuristic tendency that cause people to want to watch sports events they are not currently playing in, it would be World Cup not effete little people knocking a birdy or a ball back and forth across a net. :P

When it was called for darkness on the second day, the crowd was chanting "WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE!" That's pretty great. Nevertheless it sounds like it wasn't a very exciting game in that neither of them were taking many risks. There are reasons there were so many aces and so few broken serves. Still, it would have been crazy to have seen the whole thing.

I like that after the game, Wimbledon gave them and the ref special awards.

That was INCREDIBLE. I was riveted, even after 10+ hours.
