Title: Webcomic Updates
Post by: EUOL on June 18, 2004, 04:58:08 PM
Okay, I went through and edited down a few of the comics that I thought didn't deserve their clocks.

The new standards for webcomics are as follows:

6 clocks:  There's nothing out there better.
5 clocks:  Professional comic that really distinguishes itself from the pack.
4 clocks:  Good webcomic, better than average.
3 clocks:  Has some good elements, but most of what it does is only of average appeal.
2 clocks:  Has some problems.
1 clock:  Why did I bother reading this?

Any reviews specifically that you think need further edits?

(ps--new webcomic review going up on the main page in a few.)

Yeah, but when that happens, I often forget.

Recently, Fell has just told me to post them whenever--but that was during the time when we were having more trouble getting out articles.  I kind of agree with you, but I'm out of practice claiming days.

In the future, I'll post and ask which day you want the article.  Sound good?

I don't know how many of the reviews have  been fixed in this way, but I'm going through them makeing sure all the links that you put will open up the comic in a new window so the readers don't have to leave the site.

I never do them that way--primarily because I'm not sure how.

all you need to do is add target="_blank" insice the <A> tag right after the link. *nod*

You can just submit, mark it "Mods only" down at hte bottom when you submit it, and then no one will see it until it is blurbed. THat's probably the easiest route. Unless you insist on writing your own blurbs, which you could STILL do by putting the blurb material in the article, since when it's blurbed we'll have to edit it to mark it viewable by all anyway.

But maybe that's too many steps for you. I can just post on the forum when to do it, if'n you want. or, probably the absolute easiest, is just that you post one day in advance, so I (or whoever's editing that week) knows not to post something else. We're shy on articles right now. I'm just trying to make them last. I won't be getting the 3 or 4 done I wanted to. This week was awful.

It's no big deal EUOL, I don't mind adding them.  Acutaly you only need to add target="blank"  the _ is no longer needed.

I'm used to posting and blurbing my own articles, SE.  I'll just go back to what I did before--saying "Hey, I'm going to post an article this week.  What day do you want it."

The last few times I did that, as I mentioned, Fell said to just post it that same day--regardless of whether or not another article had been posted.  That's why I did it this way this time.

Now that you've redone the webcomic scoreing system you might want to let the guys at comixpedia know.  damonk@@@comixpedia.com

Oh, about the five clock thing?  I'm registered over at the forums there; I keep intending to tell Damonk about that.

you might want to add that both demonology and Melonpool are ending this month.  Demonology is allready over and Melonpool still has a few more comics left.

Well looks like Chopping block is finished for the time being.  It's been put on "Hiatius" for an indefent amount of time.

Also, some here might be happy to hear, PCC is thinking/planning on moveing to KeenSpot sometime.
