Makes me wonder where it would have hit if the stores had actually ordered enough to begin with!

Or, if they had all actually released it on time... :)

No, the on time thing wasn't a factor (I think) because most of them went out on shelves on tuesday, which was the start of the count.

I think that this is a phenomenally good sign for Brandon. Now that he's become a bestselling author, I think that the only place to go is up. For later books, Tor probably would print more copies on the first run and avoid a lot of the distribution problems this one had. Cutting those problems out would definitely boost the spot on that bestseller list!

However, I thought that books put out early still counted for the release week, but maybe I read one of Brandon's blog posts wrong.

Just an idea on how many books were sold Book 3 sold about 5x more then Book two did in the first week.

How many copies did Book Two sell in the first week, though? Moreover, how many did Elantris/Mistborn/Well of Ascension sell overall? I've always wondered about statistics on that kind of stuff...

Also: wow, fives times more. That's incredible!

I kind of figure if EUOL wants those numbers out he'll give them, since he didn't post it in his blog I'm reluctant to say.

However he did say that MB3 sold out at the distributer level and is in a second print and it's fairly common knowledge that a typical print run of one of these books is between 6-12 thousand.

Finally, an author that I actually want to read is on the List!  The other ones are good, but Brandon's stuff didn't need to be on the list to be good.

Llongyfarchiadau!

Which, as we all know, is Welsh for "congratulations!"

I knew you could do it, Brandon.  Frankly, I've believed since Mistborn that you're "the next big thing" in Fantasy.

Grats! :)

Does sales in other countries increase the rating in the NY-bestsellerlist as well?

Woo Hoo! That is great news!

Although, truthfully, I am not a bit surprised that he made it to the list. Brandon's work is impressive to say the least.  I think it far outshines anything else that scored higher.

I'll bet AMOL hits #1 :D

I have a feeling he gained a lot of readers when he agreed to write AMOL.   Personally I never heard of him prior to that.    AMOL gave us his name, and warbreaker gave us an idea of his writing style.  It was only a matter of time before we bought and read his other books.

Good job Brandon!  Excellent writing and excellent publicity decisions bring lots of fans!

No doubt.  I'll have multiple reasons for reading that one for sure.

Incidentally, I bought Mistborn 1+2 before I found out he was going to write AMOL.  I'm pleased with the series and I feel Sanderson'd is one of the few authors that can pull it off.

Happy to hear you surpassed your personal expectations, and I hope you have many more successes in the future.

That is simply supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! :D I had a feeling that MB3 would do very well because the series is awesome and HOA is as breathtaking as it gets. Congrats, Brandon!!

When I first read Elantris more than a year ago, and Mistborn quickly after that, I thought to myself that there's no way the Cosmos would be fair enough to give this ridiculously talented author the success he deserved. But sometimes, things actually happen the way they should.

The official list is out.

Now let's get Warbreaker into the top 15. (Or—keep telling your friends how awesome HoA is so it stays on the list.)

Not until next year. He's talking about when it comes out--gives all of us time to spread the word!

In the newest list, Hero of Ages dropped to #30. It will probably drop off completely next week (past #35). Two weeks for the first time is pretty good.

I'll admit that Robert Jordan's death brought Brandon's writing to my awareness (there is simply WAY too much talent in the writing industry for me to read everyone...plus not everyone has a style that appeals to me).

However, I like Brandon's style of writing FAR BETTER than Robert Jordan's (yes, shocking...and I know some people hate me for it) - the style is more accessible (I'd rather not explain because I don't want to start an argument).

When I learned that he was writing AMoL, I went out and bought Elantris.  I wasn't ready for Mistborn - I didn't want to get involved in a trilogy at the time.  I read Elantris, bought a copy for a friend, and read Warbreaker.  Only after that did I get into Mistborn.

I've definitely been won over - enough to buy a dozen of his books for myself and others in the last year, some of them hardcovers (alas, my Elantris is a paperback).

I've done my part and spread the love of B.S. - I bought a few friends copies of Elantris (I bought all the copies in stock at one store as gifts) and suggested they read Mistborn.  For those who didn't want any investment of money or books on a reading list before they'd felt out his writing style,  I pitched them a link to Warbreaker.  So far I've had nothing but takers and converts.
