Ya, just unimpressed generally. Doesn't help that I read it right after the superbly written The Name of the Wind.

Hmmm, yeah. I won't be reading this one.

I'm finishing another ARC I got--this one from Thomas Dunne Books (Macmillan) called Haters by David Moody. And so far... I'm hating it. The POV is 1st person and the guy is so whiney and spineless. His wife and kids are no better. And it's set in London yet I barely feel like I'm in a different city not to mention another country. I love London and this book does a pathetic job of rooting us in the setting. Oh, and a lot of it is so repetitive. So while it *seems* like the story is going further, it really isn't. (sigh) The language is rather bad too, not to mention some other crude stuff and the violence. I figure I ought to be willing to finish/review books I don't like, at least for the practice. If only I can finish it first.
