Alright, so I was wondering what is the most depressing movie you've ever seen? Sure you get those tear jerkers, but I'm talking about the makes you sit in the dark and stare at the wall goods here .
Number one for me had to be the foreign film, Beijing Bicycle. It's pretty much about two young men who screw their lives up for something that seems so ordinary, yet means the world to them.
And number two, Away From Her. I just recently saw this, and my siblings and I were ready to just lay down and cry (and we are not people that cry easily). It's a very good movie, and I suggest you check it out if you get the chance. It's about a couple who struggle through daily life as the wife suffers from Alzheimers.

Have you ever seen Truly, Madly, Deeply? I BAWLED during the first half of that movie. It's got a hopeful side, but it was more than just a tearjerker at the beginning. I generally tend to hate "tearjerkers" and/or just find them emotionally manipulative, so when a film makes me genuinely cry because it just makes me so sad for the character, that makes me notice and remember.

The last movie to make me cry was Piglets Big Movie.
Before that it was Slingblade

Life is Beautiful.
My husband and his brother told me it was the funniest movie I'd ever see. They didn't mention it was about the holocaust. It WAS funny, up until the end.... I cried for 3 days.

1) White Squall - the courtroom scene
2) What's eating Gilbert Grape (the pathos of the obese mom's situation always gets me for some reason)
3) Dead Poet's Society - "Oh Captain My Captain"

I agree about Life is Beautiful. Even years later thinking about that movie can choke me up.
I have been reading Peter Pan to my boys, ages 8 & 9, so we decided to watch Hook. I haven't seen it since I had children so I was sort of blindsided by the parental affection thing. I bawled through most of the movie, feeling remarkably silly, until I noticed my husband was wiping away tears as well.
The things that make you cry change as you go through life.

Even though I have seen the movie about 300 times, the ending of Braveheart gets me everytime....

I'm going to echo Sling Blade. It's not the most recent example, but it's a work of art.

Titanic sinking scene (which was probably as long as some entire moveis) was a big one for me. I didn't cry; it was worse than that. I felt completely empty inside. I couldn't wait to see a puppy, a child playing, something that would help me smile.
Dead Poet's Society gets me, too.

Old movie..."The Champ" with Ricky Schroeder. That movie killed me.
