Title: A Surprising Discovery
Post by: Daarian on January 04, 2008, 09:37:05 PM
The Company I work for awards us safety points each month we dont have an accident or injury and we can use those points to order different items. I was browsing the website we can use to redeem our points and while looking through the books I was surprised to see they actually have Elantris and Mistborn 1&2 as one of the books we can order. :)

What a fabulous idea to let the employees choose a reward for their safety efforts.  And even better that they have good books on the list of rewards :)

I got a CD alarm clock and a VCR using those kinds of points at an old job. Funny, that means I've had my CD alarm clock for almost 10 years. Never really thought about it. (Also, it means that I probably ought to think about replacing it with one that works for my iPod or something.)

use it till it doesn't work any more.  GAH!
sorry, I'll try not to start down that road, you'll get a real rant.

anyway, I sort of despise companies that do rewards. Mostly because I was working for one company that pretended to ask for our input, but when I told them I would *much* prefer cash over a gift card to bath and body works, they told me that some book they'd read said people worked for prizes but not money. To which I called bullcrap. They were always doing that sort of thing though. Some book told them something, so whether or not their actual employees felt the same way, the book ruled. Dumb idiots.
