Title: TWG Utah Christmas events
Post by: 42 on December 08, 2004, 11:41:47 PM
So I'm thinking that we need to have more Christamas parties.

I'm also thinking that I will prabably be watching the Earthsea mini-series on scifi next monday.

The mini-series may not be that good so I need other to watch it with me.

And I'm thinking a Christmas cookie swap would be cool. Cause I like cookies.

So any takers? RSVP

Well SE will be in town on the 17th, but unfortnatly some of the locals will be gone on that day (I was trying to set up another Clix battle royal).  Also we need a New years party.  My family will be in town on the 30-31, so maybe we can do something at the CT or EUOL's house.  My sisters like board games.

Who *IS* available on the 17th? Are we doing magic? or an RPG one-shot? I suppose I could go for clix again, too. But since we gather so infrequently (at least, I gather with you so infrequently) I kinda want to mix it up. If we can get 6 people together the whole Emperor Format for magic still sounds cool.

doubt you'll get 6 people for magic.

I'm free, but if all you're going to do is play magic then I'll probaly sit this one out.  Can't speak for anyone else, though Kije and Fell both said they'd be out of town that day.

*shrug* then something else. Just a thought. Fuzzy said she was off that night. What's the chances we can get you and JT out that night, Fuzzy?

Sprig, I'm up for something at New Year's, since I'll be out there that week.

I doubt I'll be available for New Years, since we're moving on the 29th and we still don't know where we're moving to. We'll see.

Also, I'll probably be back on Logan the night of the 17th. Are you available all day, or just at night?

Only evening/night I'm afraid. It's my brother's wedding. And as much as I love you all, I didn't spend $400 on a plane ticket to get out there just to see you guys one day, so I'm not really going to skp the occassion.  I'll double check the time and get more specific about that.

I'm actually thinking of getting people together for the Earthsea mini-series which will probably be the 13th or 14th. More likely the 14th since they will show both parts of the series that night from 5-9. and I don't have to go to work that evening.

I'm working on the 17th, unfortunately. And I'm working on the 31st.

It depends on whether he's working or not, which we wont' know until Saturday or Sunday when rob posts the schedule.

He'll be easier to convince if there's something specific planned.  Please keep in mind that if you can't think of anything to do, we have a dozen or so games that he's been dying to play with a group instead of just with me.

ok, radical change of plans.

My parents informed me last night that the wedding AND the dinner are on the 17th. Which means I'm in Utah for a whole day for no reason. Sounds like gaming.

So, Saturday the 18th. I have nothing. I could hang at TLE if I got down there. but who's up for some game playing at any time?

Well that sounds like a better plan.  I'm up for mostly anything anytime.  I'm usealy up in the mornings you can come to my place and do something if you want/need someplace togo before lunch.

admittedly, the real question is how I'll get down there. My parents will be around with a rental car, but I've no idea if they want to run down to happy valley.

I've been thinking about crashing TLE, since my sister-in-law needs some incentive to go, perhaps I can get her to go if I come to.

Well that sucks, because my commuting schedule just worked out to put me in Provo Friday night. I dan't think I can do Saturday day, though.

Yeah, I only get one non-sunday day off a week kids, so if it's Saturday you can count me out, I'll be working.

I'm actually not working on the 18th. I do have my normal gaming group that evening, but I'm mostly open.

unfortunately, I can't change the wedding/diner date, so it's the 18th or nothing. Sorry. I'm available all day though, so I can work myself in to whatever time.

Umm... random question...anyone in the Provo area want to play tonight (Wednesday)?

I only ask because I'm going out of my mind with boredom, and my roommates are all hooked up, and my friends are all taking finals and want to study (what's the fun in that, I ask you?) or are working and need to do real-life things that real-life people do...whatever that is.

Any takers?

Sorry, Fish.  I have to proofread.  ELANTRIS is due back by the 17th, and I'm only 2/3ds the way done.  I couldn't even do gaming tonight.

Okay, so I fly home first thing in the morning, so I'm going to be out of email/forum touch for about a week. Internet access at home is pretty much nonexistent. I fly to Utah on the 29th, which is a week from Wednesday. I don't think there's any wedding stuff going on that day, so my plan for that day so far is to go crash for a nap at my friend's, and then go to a movie or something that night. If anyone here will be around then, you're welcome to join me. Let me know here today, or I'll try to check the boards at my sister's a day or two before I leave.

The 29th is the day I'm moving out (but not, unfortunately, the day I'm moving in). So I'm sadly unavailable.

Honestly, I'm not sure what things will be like for me.  That's, like, over a week away!

On a more serious note, I know I have to be in Idaho until Tuesday, and I know that I have plans with my family on the 30th and 31st.  The 1st will be taken up by writing group.  That only leaves Wednesday.  I might be able to swing it so I'm around then.

I'll try to check the boards in a week and see who's up for it. Yeah, I realize it's sooo far in the future, but I'm going to be offline for most of that time, if not all. If I can't get online before flying out, I'll just call everyone I have a number for when I get out there.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Okay, I really want to see either National Treasure or Ocean's Twelve on Wednesday night. Fandango says National Treasure's playing at the Provo Towne Center at 6:50 and 9:45, and Ocean's Twelve is playing 6:55, 7:35, 9:50, and 10:30. I'm also thinking of going out to eat beforehand somewhere, too. Any preferences on movie, time, or where/when to eat? Who's up for it?

Well, I have Wednesday night off of work, so I could do something. I've already seen National Treasure, but I haven't seen Ocean's Twelve. Dinner would be fine too.

Depending on when my familiy leaves I might have time saturday to help out Fell.  I'm assumeing you're talking about unloading things into your new house, since I'm not going to Logan to pack.

Stacer:  I'll still be in Idaho on Wednesday, it appears.

Fell: I can probably help, but I have writing group that evening.

Sprig:  Knowing Fell, he probably DOES want us to drive up to Logan to help him.  I seem to remember a little 'floor work' project that he tried to get help for.... However, I'm with you--I'll help on this end.

Okay, so how about Ocean's Twelve at 7:35 at the Provo Towne Center, for those who are in town. (I think Brenna's traveling today, so I'll call you tomorrow when I get there, Brenna.) I'll call 42 and Brenna and we'll talk about dinner possibilities. Anyone else thinks they might make it, either meet us at the theater at 7:15-7:20-ish, or call me if you want to come to dinner. I'll have my cell with me.

You're in luck--we spent all day yesterday moving out of our house in Logan, and the fully-packed truck is now sitting in Orem. We're going to paint a couple of rooms and then move in on Saturday.

For anyone interested (and many thanks to those who have offered help), you can meet us there at 10:00am Saturday morning. The address is 485 S 1160 W in Orem. It's about halfway between UVSC and Trafalga.

My wife and I will be out late the evening prior, so I'm doubting I'll be able to swing 10am.  11 sounds more doable to me, so I might show up then.  I only say "might" to accurately depict the fact that no one (prophets and mutants aside) can predict the future.  I'm fully intending to be there.  But everyone know what that road's paved with...

** Kije shuts his eyes a moment to enjoy the uncertainty and ambiguity of life as it swims about his consciousness

Yes, I'm intending to be there.  Around 11.  Probably.

I think, Sprig, that's where the moving truck is right now.  I think his house actually is in Springville.

Post by: Spriggan on December 31, 2004, 04:53:00 AM
He's allready in his new house painting he said, so why wouldn't the truck be there?
Title: Re: TWG Utah Christmas events
Post by: EUOL on December 31, 2004, 06:47:05 AM
This is Dan we're talking about, Sprig.  Sure, it would make sense for his truck to be at his house, but since when has he made sense?

I spoke with Tage earlier, and he said that the move was very odd, and implied that things weren't in the places where they should be.  He didn't mention that Fell had bought a different house than the one they had chosen, however, so I'm still assuming it's in Springville.

However, it would be nice if he found a place in Orem.  I mean, seriously.  Who wants to live in Springville?

I sure don't.  Also if SE dosen't do it can you blurb my MM3 reveiw today when you post your EUOLogy?

edit: you need to approve it too.

Secondly, my family's plans for today have changed so I'm free for doing stuff around 7:30-8 pm.  I suggest we celebrate the new year by Tee-peeing Tage's car.

Well, I have several options for tonight, most of which require more energy than I've got. My sinuses are acting up and I just want to sleep. Fiona wants to go to a dance in Sugarhouse, but I don't feel up to driving all the way to Salt Lake and then meeting hundreds of new people.

So if you've got something low-key in mind that doesn't involve jumping around, let me know. But I'm going offline in a few minutes, so call my cell. Jeff has it, but I'll PM it to you in case you can't get it from him.

Unfortunately not, as "unpacked" does not directly translate to "all the work is done." I'm going to spend tonight painting my son's room, and probably tomorrow night painting the rest of my daughter's.
