I actually agree with just about everything the Gibbs have to say. This movie really is amzingly good. A lot better that what anyone would expect out of a Bond film. The introduction chase sequence is my favorite part of the movie overall.
I will say that I found that torture scene to be disturbing. Yes, they try to tone it down, and have very carefully chosen camera angles. Still, it ruined the movie for me on some levels.

Fantastic film. The bond was dangerous and brutal, just like you'd expect an assassin to be. And the bad guy was a believable villain, someone you could imagine existing outside of the Bond world.

Sweet. I really want to go to this one now. I'm not a huge Bond devote but I enjoyed a few that I've seen, though I wished for better plots and acting in some of them. This review's got me really excited for this flick.

Well, I just had a friend tell me, as we were on the bus after work this morning, tell me that it was rather disappointing and he only really enjoyed the first 15 minutes. Other than that it was bad. I'm not sure what to think now.

I agree. In one scene Bond has blood all over him after a fight and he stands in the bathroom and it just hits you how horrible this all is, how he could have gotten really hurt. It was different to actually feel like his life was imperilled.
I was expecting to hate Craig in this, but he was really good. I was impressed.
The torture scene was difficult for me to handle, and some of the movie was really violent, but otherwise it was a first-rate flick.

Yesterday, Ryan and I braved the crowds to see this flick, and I have to say that it's super-stupendous. We both *loved* it. All-out amazing with the action, the character development, the pacing, and even the humor. I'll be making this movie part of my DVD library when it comes out.

Aside from the torture scene which I didn't like, I absolutely loved this movie. Which was surprising since I was only expecting another dumb action Bond flick. He didn't end up with a chic on beach at the end! And no gadgets! Yay! The gadgets were always silly in my opinion. Better to do without them. The fight scenes were great although if you liked the first one, be sure to check out the French movie "District B-13"/ "Banlieue 13." I think someone saw it... hehe. Anyways, if you're going to steal something from another movie, a parkour chase scene is definately the thing to steal.

oddly enough, in the original Ian Flemming books, Bond himself hated the gadgets and his relationship with M was always something like contempt.

See? That's much more interesting than the gadgets being the solution to all problems Bond will ever encounter. I did love how he broke into M's house. Good for them to get back to the roots so to speak. Now if Bond weren't still the world's worst spy... hehe
