Title: The Stepford Wives
Post by: fuzzyoctopus on May 16, 2004, 09:18:29 PM
Ok, so first of all, I know the remake of this movie isn't coming out until June 11th, but it looks good.  I was told I had to see the original, so we rented it this week and watched it last night.

Has anyone else seen the original, and how does everyone think the remake is going to turn out?  It's being done as a dark comedy, apparently, and is being directed by Frank Oz.  That just.... wow.

I haven't seen the original but I do know the remake had a lot of preproduction problems with people droping out of makeing the movie.  For example Brad Pitt was supposed to be in it then just before they started filming he droped out and they replaced him with mathew Brodrick.

The original was one of the freakiest movies I remember seeing as a kid. Set in the late 70s, all normal, but then there's this sinister side. I loved it. I haven't seen it in years, though, so can't remember too many details besides the dark glassy eyes.

I decided Joanna deserved to die when she handed the poker over to Mr. Evil Man instead of beating him to death with it. He was like 70.  She could have kicked his disturbed, misogynistic butt, and she didn't.

What a loser.  I'm hoping Nicole Kidman does better.
