Okay, I know I've been a bit absent lately. I've been...distracted.
But for those who care, the latest news in my life is that I'm not moving to California. I was notified yesterday that I've been admitted to the Masters program in English at BYU, so I'll be staying in Orem. It's not as good a program, but all things considered I think staying is going to be the best decision for me.
So yay.
Mistborn Llamas, how do y'all feel about me staying in the group?

I'm guessing that that last sentence means everyone in Utah there should be decidedly happy that you'll be around for a while longer.
But hey, there may be some interesting changes in the coming year that will greatly surprise, annoy, perturb, and just plain stretch the fabric of everything you knew to be real!
Probably announced officially in a few months, until then, be perturbed!

Boy, I'll say surprising. Good word Sprig. I'll go so far as to say "shocked and amazed" at the "luck" MsFish had to have to get herself into the Masters writing program at BYU.
Not really. From reading her geekgirl pennings I'd say she deserved it, nay, earned it even.

That's great, MsFish! It may not be as good a program, but I think you'll use it to your advantage and will be able to afford it better to boot. I'm so happy for you.

Didn't mean it in that tone Scar, but that she got quite lucky with someone dropping out at the last minute so she could get in.

For the record, I knew it all, right from the start. Even the part about knowing who knew that I knew that they know what he meant.
Oh yeah, and, as somewhat of an afterthought, good work MsFish.

Well I for one am thrilled that this has worked out so well, and there's a LOT to be said for not being 50,000 more in debt, not to mention other perks of staying in the Provo area! Congratulations!

Yay, yay, yay!!! When you got in to the MFA program, I was happy for you, but I was sad that you were moving to California. Now we'll be able to hang out in person, rather than just restricting it to phone calls. ;D

Just don't break your arm doing it. Not that you don't deserve pats so vigorous they could break arms, but it would just be really awkward to have to tell everyone you broke your arm patting your back.

Ok, Im gonna hijack the thread for a sec myself, just because I have been laying sorta low lately too.
I have moved, now I live in Portsmouth VA, and am assigned to Sector Hampton Roads's Prevention Dept out of Norfolk. The work mainly consists of inspecting facilities, containers, and foreign vessels for a variety of things, including terrorists, WMD's and just general safety. My wife is a little bit away in Arlington, but its only a few hours away, so Im not sure how much strain is going to be on my relationship at this point.
It looks like I get to wear many many hats here, so Im kind of thrilled to be here doing this job right now. Lots and lots of chances to advance and improve myself. Plus lots and lots of job offers already. In fact today when I went to Northrop Grumman the staff there looked me over like a piece of meat. All the security staff at these places is made of ex-military be it USCG or Navy.
Our area of responsibilty is huge... basically covering every port facility, oil terminal and chemical facility in VA with access to the water the exception of Arlington and Alexandria which we just gave to Baltimore.
So lots of GV travel.... yay...
But overall my first 2 weeks have been sweet.
