Title: Incarnate
Post by: Fellfrosch on January 16, 2003, 02:38:17 PM
Saint Ehlers pointed this out to me, and I'm intrigued by the concept. As I understand it, Incarnate is the product of Dragoncon's "Game in a Day," where they invented an RPG in one day, and will eventually be available for free over the Internet. I find the concept really interesting. Sounds like it's still missing large portions of game mechanics, but what they have sounds cool. This'd be a nice one to try once it's finished.

just to resurrect this thread:

Incarnate has been released, and even though it was SUPPOSED to be at $6 a download, they changed their mind, and it's FREE. Haven't read it yet, but I downloaded it. It's under a meg, so no excuses.

The game looks interesting, though after reading the updates I noticed the writers comitted one creative process sin. Once they finished writing they simply handed it over to a layout person and expected everything to get done right away. And then they gripe about it when they don't like what they get back. Didn't they realize that having a production team of one is always a bad idea. So quit whining. It's their fault for having given all of the actual production work to one person and for not asking for roughs, comps, bluelines or anything remotely close to that.

to defend them, the idea was "game in a day." which means 99% of the team who did it as from different areas of the world, mostly europe, and went hope at the end of the day, never to return.

Well, you can have something fast, cheap or good, but you can never have all three. It looks like Incarnate got fast and cheap.

did you read that? or are you pre-judging it? the ideas are cool, but I haven't read mechanics yet. They didn't get very fast either. while the rules were done in a day, it was at least half a year since that con and the release date.
