Title: Marvel Universe?
Post by: Gemm: Rock & Roll Star; Born to Rock on May 07, 2004, 10:39:21 AM
So whats the deal with this set? It seems more like a promotional rip-off than anything else. $4 for 2 figures ina  booster pack and $13 for a starter set of 6 figures, preselected. This just seems like a rather odd thing. I don't see the point. For 2 more dollars you can get a booster pack with 6 figures.

well, considering the only new figures are the pre-selected ones in the Starter set, I'd say you're right Gemm.

They are cycling out the first Marvel set (Infinity Challenge) due to some weird imbalances (such as Firelord). It was their first set, after all, and they didn't really know what they were doing. Universe is designed as a way to bring new players into the game and keep the main figures from IF and Xplosion (which is still legal, but out of print) available to play with.
