I could argue that it is a RGP because you create a charachter and take the form of him/her but anyways what is the best race to go and why.

You could argue that it's an RPG because it says so on the box, but we separate our forums by medium: RPG, in this case, refers to pen-and-paper RPGs, whereas computer RPGs go in the video game section.

As for race, I'd have to say that it depends on your class and your style of play.

how long is a piece of string?

it really depends on class. and what you define as "best". i generally use human, irregardless of class, but they arnt as good in AD&D as in 3E.
