If the TWG website is looking for other PC games to review, why not try www.mtgplay.com? It's a free Magic the Gathering client that lets you play magic online with your friends, and every card in the game is available to youl FOR FREE! That means unlimited deck options, not having to spend all your hard-earned money on the real life cards, and a lot more time officialy wasted!
So come check out this site! I gurantee if you like playing Magic the Gathering, you will love this site! ;D

Sounds like it's worth a shot. There's a couple of free MTG online things I've looked at but I just never really dug 'em. Maybe this one will capture my fancy.

Yep, and just like the last time we had someone post here about a MTG client we'll end up debateing weither or not its legal since that's more fun then playing magic over the net.

Yeah, well, I spent 200 Megs downloading it all, so tonight I'll try it out and see if I'm feeling spiteful. It actually looks *really* promising (Aprentice with images, Yay!) so if any of you are online when I get home and bothered to grab it we can try it out. I would be very interested in trying some sort of small TWG league/rankings thing maybe, since I've developed an addiction to the game by borrowing a friends deck, even though I can't afford cards myself.

I got it installed on my home PC but I didn't have the time to try it out. It looks like we're still responsible for the rules, but coding rules into a client is something Wizards still has a few problems with. Still building my first deck. (which wasn't intuitive...ditto with the search engine)
If we can get this working we should have a Fallen Empires block tournament or something.

We're still responsible for the rules, but as I always say, you're responsible for the rules when you play on a *Table*, so get over it. Searchign for cards and building decks isn't too intuitive, certainly, but it does work, and I like the selection of precon decks. It's also really nice and pretty, once you actually figure out getting it to work. Actual playing seems pretty good, with such things as a duble click/tap thing.
Prometheus and anyone else who gets it - pass over an IM so if I see you online we can try it out. I need to feed my card game adiction cheaply!

So did it work? Would you recommend it? While staying in the hospital with my sleeping wife I whiled away the time building magic decks; if this program works well, I'd love to try them out.

I wouldn't recommend it as a deck builder, but it worked OK as an online 'table' for us to play on. Incidental risk of encountering the sort of folks you don't like to play with at card shops is expected.
Yeah we got it working anyway, but JamPaladin was the guy who found the server we ended up using and I had to go back afterward and close the hole I made in my firewall trying to get it to work off my computer directly.
JamPaladin also got a sneak peek at my next TWG decklist. Boom.

Magic Suitcase, which went with that Apprentice program, worked pretty good as as searchable list of cards.

I generally go to www.moxdiamond.com if I want to search for cards. It's got a few quirks like most search engines, but I got used to them if nothing else. Sadly the ease-of-use has decreased over time, but it still serves my needs admirably. (Hint: use mostly the text search line and the selection menus. The creature type line is worthless.)

Hehhe. Boom alright.
As an online table, it's excellent. It's fast, pretty, and easy to use. It also let's you slap the other players.
You're supposed to be able to connect directly, but there are a lot of firewall and network problems that requrie reconfiguring routers and switches, and I didn't have the password to mine.
Luckily, there is a chat room to meet people to play with, and on this chat room, people regularly give out addresses of public servers to connect to. Thanks to that, we were able to play, and also able to meet the aforementioned undesireables. (An annoying guy with a broken deck, who didn't actually know what any of his cards did.)
