Title: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Mr_Pleasington on January 20, 2005, 02:54:28 PM
Okay folks,  I'm at a point right now where I've got a lot of characters in the mid/low teens and I'm trying to decide on who to focus on.  I really like my Dwarven Paladin on CC, and I like that I can catch you guys on there often, even if we may be seperated by different continents (in game).

Now our time zone differences and limited play time hampered our efforts to get our all-dwarf party started, but a guild is still viable.  Many of you have several Alliance characters on CC and I think we can pull it off.

So now we just need a name and some eager people.

Suggestions for a name?

yeah, I don't play. But I thought I'd throw it up...er... out

I'm all for it. I really like the name Suicide Knob, but that's not really appropriate for an RP server. If we were doing a Horde guild I would suggest Wretched Refuse, because that's an awesome undead name, but for an Alliance guild...how about...I don't know, the word Convocation is cool. Let me think about this some more.

Guild names can be quite long too, I beleave 24 characters.  So we can come up with some good names if you want.

These are other guilds in WoW, but name's I happen to like:

Lost Order of Akalabeth
Bovine University
Knights of Glory n Beer
Auroran Sentinels

Since it's an RPG server I think names like the ones I listed are cooler then something like "Scurvy" or "Butt kicking Horde".

Mormons United!

Heh, had to throw that last one in there.

A few of us were talking online and really liked Gemm's idea.  We just thought we'd change it a bit.  We settled on:

Wardens of Lost Time

Thought we'd let everyone mull it over before officially registering it though.

Ah, Wardens! Now we must BE NE's! But yeah, I basically like it. Sounds more to what I wanted anyways. Verily good gents. I'll be with you no sooner than a jolly man's fortnight.

Wardens of Lost Time is cool. I can go with that.

Hey, I know there was talk of  doing Stockades shortly.  I'll be out of the weekend so I'd like to hold off for a bit.  I'm almost level 14 now (and got Redemption!  Boo yah!).  So I'll be ready shortly.

I just registered the charter for The Wardens of Lost Time.  We're going to need all the TWG folks and some friends to sign it if we're going to get 10 people and make it official.

If you're looking for me to sign it, I'm in Westfall right now, working on The People's Militia quests.  Whisper me and I can make the journey to meet you, I'm sure.

Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Eagle Prince on January 24, 2005, 03:41:46 AM
I'm guessing that is probably the abbreviated name for the computer server they are playing on.  Games like World of Warcraft and Everquest, they have lots of different servers and you can only go talk/quest/whatever with someone playing on the same server as you.
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC

Bingo.

It stands for Cenarion Circle in World of Warcraft.

Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC

ya, it's the server that we're creating a guild on for World of Warcraft.

I missed you in game Mr. P.  Umm so we need to get 5-6 others to sign it besides the TWG people.  That is if we can ever catch Fell online, now we can try the ol' spam "pleaze sign my charter!" in IF or SW to get random people to join then kick them out (since you don't have to have 10 people in a guild, only to create one) but that method annoys me because too many do it.

Another thing we need to decided is guild ranks and titles.  You're able to create, and name, all the different ranks in your guild.  So you can just go with officer, initiate, member and the like (which I think is the default), but I think we can come up with some cool ones.

P.S. I could use any Wool or Bronze people don't need  ;D

Well, I'm easy to find, bounching  between Westfall, Stormwind, and Ironforge.

I'd like to use the emergency call here:

  TWG ASSEMBLE!!!!

Everyone who has a character on CC needs to whisper me and sign the charter.  I'll also spam IW and SW, loathe as I am to do it.  Plus, come up with some good titles, someone.

I'm on most nights anymore, though tonight and tomorrow I'll probably not be there as I am prepping for an Eberron game tomorrow night.  If you see me on, just say something in channel twg or whisper me.  I'll find you...if all my auctions go through I'll have tons of cash for travel expenses ;)

We could just use our corresponding Forum levels and tag-lines. Of course, most likely even luck, for us then that SE isn't playing. =P

But yeah, since I'm completely short-sited on WoW (stupid freaking, grrrr) I'll come up with some names that then can be agreed upon and changed as deemed appropiate.

I'll try and let you know when I'll be on.

I'll jump on with Torvald later today, though he's still in the Carpathia, or whatever you call that first town the Dwarves go to once they leave their starting zone.

I'd play him more, but I'm so darn fascinated with Kalimdor that I can't leave my horde character alone. The different zones are just so unique and original, I'll sometimes just travel around for the sake of seeing new things.

Indeed your induction is fairly true. But I should be on Saturday. I'll be going to my friends to play. As I did last night. But, about the trees. I would much rather make a life-sized look alike Jennifer Garner. Or maybe Robin Williams so I can look at it and laugh.

Only 2 more sigs needed!  Gee, I wonder if we know two people who play who haven't signed it.... hmmmm....

Of interest, tonight I came across a naked dance party in the middle of nowhere.  Well, as naked as you can get in WoW.  It was in the middle of nowhere in Westfall.  3 girls, a guy, and a druid in wolf form.  The guy was still wearing his shield and weapon.  I wouldn't trust naked chicks in the middle of nowhere, dancing, either.

I took a pic, but have no easy way to post it.

Make sure to be in Channel TWG.

I don't know what Mr. P's scedule for that day is, but if we can get Fell on as well then we'll enough signatures.

And on that note I think that only TWG members should be set as Officers and the non-people be set to members.

As for guild titles I've got a few, the default or common name for the rank will be on the left, the TWG names will be on the left.

Guild Master - Grand Warden
Officer - Warden
Officer Alt - Warden Alt
Vetern- Watcher
Member- Scout
Member Alt - Scout Alt
Initiate- Plucky Sidekick

You can have as many title/ranks as you want, so we can add or remove ranks there.  Also these are just my suggestions.

That sounds good Sprig.  I like the titles, and that only TWG members are officers.

As for my schedule, it sucks.  I'll be on late tonight, but that will be the last time until either sat night or sunday night.  I'm out for fri afternoon and sat afternoon.

*Drumroll Please*

And we're a guild!

Yeah!

I've given the proper promotions and set the names as above.

Also, I've looked into tabbard design. One logo is an hourglass, which would be perfect.  It costs 10g to design one so we should start taking in donations soon.

Woo Hoo!

I'm going to be spending the weekend with Dawn's family, which means I need big WoW binge tonight to brace myself for the grueling drudgery. I'll play Torvald all night (probably starting around 10 or 10:30) so I should be easy to find.

Actually, Gemm, the all-dwarf party thing kind of went by the wayside because we couldn't all be on at the same time that frequently.

As such, choose any Alliance character that you want for the guild.

Excpet Gnomes because they're filthy.

Also Mr. P you should give offivers (me, Promethoius and Fell) promotion powers, and I think Fell Has some suggestions on changes to the guild rank titles.
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Fellfrosch on January 30, 2005, 12:59:39 AM
I do, but take it with a grain of salt: it occured to me that we should change the title Grand Warden to "Warden of Wardens," mostly as a joke about how the game displays titles. They give the title and then the name of the guild, so a Warden is listed as "Warden of Wardens of Lost Time." I think you see where I'm going here: you could be the "Warden of Wardens of Wardens of Lost Time." Also, "Warden of Wardens" sounds pretty cool by itself.

I'm almost full on quests so I thought I'd let you all in on what I'd need help with this week:

1.  Deadmines.  Two quests there, ready for action!
2.  Redridge Mtns.  I have around 5 quests that are elite/red at my level 20.  Most involve killing orcs.   I'll either need a big group for this or to go up in level at bit.

That's actually about it for now.  I'll be on most nights this week, I figure.

I don't know how much I'll be playing on CC since I got realy turned off to playing on that sever by one of our random guildmates.  Also I hadn't played my Horde for about 2 weeks and that break was long enough to make me enjoy playing him again.  I'll try to get on once or twice a week, but on the weekdays I'm realy trying to limit how much I play (usealy 2 hours max if that).
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC

Which guildmate?  This guild was meant to facilitate our play.  If someone is screwing that up, they get the boot.

You should have boot powers actually...
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Spriggan on January 31, 2005, 01:35:30 PM
Well I don't want to name names on the forum, as one Capting James Hook would say "it's not good form".  I don't know if I could have booted him, nor did I want to with out talking to you about it.  I mentioned what he was doing but he ignored me as far as I could tell.  I don't mind the person staying in the guild if he agrees to our rules, which in this case is "need before greed", Ie don't roll on loot you cannot use then try and sell it the other guildy in your group that can.
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Mr_Pleasington on January 31, 2005, 01:38:31 PM
Gotcha.

Send me an email if you'd like to talk about it.  There's been one other guy who is a bit profane in the guild channel that needs a warning.

Let me know the offense and I'll send an in game mail of warning to the person.
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Spriggan on January 31, 2005, 01:43:57 PM
Speaking of which, we should write up a guild charter that explains the rules of the guild and post it in the forums.  Then we can set the message of the day to being "check out our forums" ect.

things I think are nessacery:

1) Not ninja looting, if you ninja loot you'll be kicked out of the guild.

2) Need before greed.  Don't roll on something you cannot use if there is someone else in the party that can use it, especialy if that other person is a guild mate.

3) Don't expect higher levels to rush you through your quests or instances, if they do that's their descision.

4) no profanity in Guild chat, yes their is a filter, it makes baby Uther mad.

5) Allwayse remember "What would Uther do?"

Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC

Where you frantically pick up everything within reach, without regard for others. I got called it once, when nobody else in the party was bothering to pick up loot so I started grabbing anything not nailed down (I was the only non-twinked character I believe).

Only if useing Group loot Fell, there are several differnet loot options.

The real problem with Ninja Looting in WoW is bind on pick-up items, and looting an item then hearting out of the instance.  'Course these aren't as big of a deal now that you can set threashold looting (ie required rolling) but a lot of people still roll on items they cannot use when others can.

Cenarion Circle. It's an RP, and typically has a low population (though Alliance, as I'm discovering, is a lot busier than Horde and thus runs a little slower in teh more crowded areas).

%*#% Blizzard and their %*#%# game, I don't pay $15 a month to have their servers crash constenetly over and over again.  They just replainced their servers and their still crap, even worse then before.  Maybe I can file a class action lawsuite against them to get my money back.
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Entsuropi on February 04, 2005, 09:29:04 AM
Yes, because paying thousands of dollars a month for a lawyers fee is an economical way of getting your $15 back.
Title: Re: The TWG Guild On CC
Post by: Spriggan on February 04, 2005, 09:33:36 AM
Na, with that type of lawsuite I wouldn't pay a lawyer, they'd just take a percentace of the settlement.  True $15 isn't much but there are several thousand people that would probaly join up.

Blizzard is just incompenet when it comes to servers, I know they're trying to some extent or they wouldn't be takeing the servers down all the time for fixes.  The problem is those fixes don't do anything benificial, many times they make things worse.

as Game designers they're great, brilliant even, but they've got to be one of the worse server programs around.

Was this on CC? Because the server problems have finally hit us there, even with our small population: Wednesday night was so bad I gave up (and played CoH), and then last night I crashed when I tried to fly into Ironforge.

I want to try my Horde character again, because he always seemed so much more stable--probably because the Horde seems to have far fewer players, so those parts of the world can handle the load better.

Well the Horde contenet has less people on it usealy since the most popular zones are on the Eastern Kingdoms and since each game server is actualy 2 sepperate servers one side can be fine and the other laggy.

No this was on Hyjal.  we were doing an eilte quest had just gotten to the boss (there was on mob between us) and an epic item (purple) had just droped.  Then I got booted and the log in server went down.  I was mad becasue of the time we had put in to get there and that usely with server crashes there are rollbacks of 10-20 mintues where you loose what you gained in that time and I didn't want my Guild mate to loose his shiney new epic bracers.

Ok so I'm going to start makeing more of a concerted effort to be on CC then I've been in the past.  So, for the next few weeks, you can expect to see me on on the weeknights when I want to play WoW.  That would be Sunday-thursday late at night (after midnight mountain time) though I might get on earlier.  Then on the weekends I'll be on Hyjal.

My Rogue is 56 now, so all that's really left is instance runs, and many of the high level ones take 4-6 hours which I just cannot do on weekdays.  And I feel bad not haveing been on much the past 3-4 weeks since I know several of you wanted guild groups and such.

I wont be on every night, but should be at least 2-3 times for at least 1.5-2 hours.

Fear my murderous rage at failing to complete the Van Cleef quest despite going through the instance TWICE.

Both times, I copped it an instant before he died, then the entire party died and in the time it took us to run back from the graveyard his body disappeared.

In other news, my Ironforge Breastplate kicks booty. Kicks orc booty.

you playing on the Euro servers then?

And yes, Van Cleef is hard.  There use to be several good jokes about him back in CB.

Yah. Freaking hilarious the number of 'The United Force, UK only', 'Pride of Denmark', 'Greek Legion' guilds you see.

I've never had to explain what the word 'influence' meant to a Greek lad before. That was fun and disturbingly gratifying. :P
