Title: QuickTimeCheck Scriptable Object
Post by: stacer on August 15, 2006, 01:26:10 AM
When I came to the forums tonight, I got a message/popup saying that the site wanted to run the add-on "QuickTimeCheck Scriptable Object" from "Apple Computer Inc. (unverified publisher)."

Since I've never gotten anything like this from TWG before, and I can't imagine why the forum would need it, I felt it necessary to ask.

I've gotten this too recently as well as one asking you to run flash (if you accept the quicktime), I'm not sure what's going on but I'm going to check tomorrow at work and see what I can find.

For now, nobody run anything our site tells you to run. If your refrigerator is running, on the other hand, then our site encourages you to catch it.

The next time this happens to someone can you right-click on the page and select "view source" then save that as a text file and e-mail it to me?  That will help me figure out what's going on.

It's not happening on my computer here at work, but it happened on every single page at home last night and this morning, so I'll try to remember tonight.

Thanks Stacer.  I can't find anything on the server that would cause this so I need to see some code.

Okay, so I'm home now, and it's stopped doing it. Perhaps it's because I've since restarted, and it was something to do with my own computer rather than the site. But it is strange that the site was trying to make me download Quicktime.

I'm not having problems with QuickTime, but I am having problems loading pages. For example, it just took three tries for me to get the front page--the server timed out the first two times. I've also had problems with the server not responding to requests to load other pages within the site.

Is anyone else having this problem?

as far as I know, TWG was down for about an hour this morning. But that's the only problem I've had.

Thats a hosting issue, nothing we can do about it, they've been having some problems with DNS attacks over the past few months.  If we weren't paid up for a year we'd probably move again, but it's getting better.

I haven't been having any problems myself, but that may just be because I've been going to bed late and getting up late because it was summer and all.

Define "year". Like as in till the end of 06, or until a year after you paid for it?
