Well, the culmanation of my last two years of school is the UAI. This is a rank, not a mark, out of one hundred, in a bell-shaped curve compared to the rest of the state. it also decides what university courses you are able to get into.
The UAI was released today at 9 A.M. I spent 45 minutes plugging away the site, trying to connect to what I thought was a server that was overloaded and went down from every student in the state trying to connect.
That's when someone informs me over IM that I'm connecting to the wrong site. I check the other piece of paper, realise that he's right. I simply didn't read it correctly.
Feel free to laugh at me for this.
That said, I ended up with a UAI of 88.75. Not bad at all.

Congrats. Uh, I think.
Does that mean 88% percentile, or is it more of an arbitrary rank?

Well, it's a bell shaped curve, centered at 60. So the majority of people are going to be at 60, with a lower number of people at the top or bottom. It's kind of confusing therefore, but what it means is that a score of 99 compared to 98 is more impressive than 68 compared to 67. I don't really understand it all to well. Just think back to bell shaped curves in maths. It's not simply an 88% though, since 50% are higher than 60 and 50% are lower than 60. So it's actually slightly (or depending on the standard deviation, significantly) better than a simple 88th percentile.

Heh, 88% percentile. Thats a funny like EUOL.

Gemm, just admit it when you don't know what you're talking about ;D

88 percent percentile. C'mon. That doesn't sound right. 88th perncentile sounds right. So =P

I'm going to have to refer you to the previous post.
