Maybe I was just having a bad day that day (and I was, very stressful), but watching this movie with Karen (who really likes it) way back when was a terrible experience for me. Not my kind of thing. Who knows, though...maybe I'd like it now.

But if I'd still hate it, then...no worries. Even among us geeks we're allowed to have different tastes.

Here here, Some of us are Trekkies, other Trekkers, and still other hate Star Trek, but are fanatical about Star Wars! Some like computers, others are die hard book fans. Even as a buch of geeks and nerds we still have clicks! You gotta love it. But for the most part, we all love each other becuase of our differences and we all experiance something new because one geek says to another, hey check this out, it is so sweet! I love it man. Love it!!!!

you may know the two characters from Hamlet, as the school buddies who he sentances to death instead of himself.

Now that you mention it, those are names of people in this video game Vagrant Story... Yeah, I probably should have remembered they were from Hamlet, but I like that video game more than Hamlet, heh.

Dude, Hamlet rocks, sex, drugs, women, violence. Hmmm, I don't think that my kids are going to be reading this play anytime soon.

Sure, I read the play and saw the movie... guess it didn't hold my attention as much as a video game in the end, however.

Ah, a video game junkie  ;D It's cool dude. Hamlet can be a bit tough read being in that old english. Takes a while to get used to. And video games have a habit of being a bit more interactive. But there is something to be said of a movie that is based on hamlet with a 90's twist.

The one I saw had Mel Gibson as Hamlet.

So I was checking out this movie on IMDB and Gary Oldman plays in it.  He's one of my favorite actors, so I'll have to try finding this somewhere to rent or buy.

I agree Bones. Branaughs Hamlet so kicked Mel's in the arse. But then again Branaugh knows Shakespeare.

Sprig, since when won't you watch anything other than PG?

I don't, thought I don't want to pay to rent it and EUOL's picky about what he watches, thus the "I can get EUOL to rent it" statment.

Ah, makes sense (cents for the pun). If I ever get the dream dual layer DVD burner I will have to make you a copy. I think Hoham played it for us once in 10th grade, if you can remember that far back.

All I remember about Hoham is Hooty & the Blowfish, Forest Gump and him shooting down our Apachie.

Funny story, after watching this movie, I got the second highest score in the class during my 12th grade English test about Hamlet.

R&G is brilliant.  It is a parallel story to HAMLET, told from the viewpoint of the two side characters who get unwittingly sentenced to death in the play.

The movie (and the play it's based on) is a comedy--sort of--but is very metaphysical, with some great discussions about fate, philosophy, and general storytelling.  It also tends to make fun of Hamlet in a very literary, intelligent way.

(Just thought I should give a bit of an overview, for those who didn't know what the movie was about.)

And despite that, I didn't really like the movie. I saw a local production of it that was great, however.

Was this the one in the outdoor theater where the cast was doing alternate nights Hamlet and R&G? I thought that was cool. I think it was the first time my wife saw R&G. I love that film.

Yes, that's the one. It's a great play if you get the chance to see it, and a great read if you just want to pick up the script sometime. Didn't like the movie, though, for reasons I can't explain.

I remember liking the movie a lot, but it's been years since I've seen it. I think I saw it sometime locally, too, while I lived in Provo.

"Oh look a horse with an arrow in it's head... It must have been mistaken for a deer!"
it is possibly one of my favorite plays ever, it's up there with angels in america.
