Title: It's that time again
Post by: Spriggan on April 13, 2005, 09:32:20 AM
For another D&D movie!  Yep it should come out this year and despite what's been said on other boards here it dose not have Vin Diesal or Paris Hilton but instead has the characters from the D&D core rule book and Basic game as supporting cast (most appear to be CG).

Ladys and gentlemen I give you the Plot Summery

Quote

Dungeons & Dragons 2 takes you deeper into the dark and fantastical world of this fantasy epic. When the evil sorcerer Damodar braves a perilous whirlwind vortex to steal the elemental black orb he declares a sinister plan of vengeance against the kingdom of Ismir. Berek, a decorated warrior, and Melora, an amateur sorceress join four heroes representing Intelligence, Wisdom, Honor and Strength to battle against Damodar's growing army of gruesome creatures, flying harpies and an ice dragon to reach a vault room holding the orb. Together, they build their own army to retrieve the orb using elemental forces to defeat Damodar before he summons the sleeping black dragon whose omnipotent evil powers could lay waste to the entire kingdom.

It's director is none other then Gerry Lively!  Yes the same Gerry Lively that worked on Hellrasor 3 and 4, Childern of the Corn 3, Lobster Man from Mars and who could forget the classic Max Meets the Dallas Cowboys.  They've really out done themselfs here.

What the hell? That plot summary just sounds.... rushed. It's the basic D&D campaign I suppose, but distilled into 2 hours?

And hahaha.... you make me laugh with the director.

Oh, oh, ... it has Ed Stark in it. You know, the guy who wrote D&D 3e. You know...

And that guy who guest starred a lot in "Monarch of the Glen" and the guy who produced "Red Dwarf: The Movie."

Yeah, you're right, I don't care either.

The guy from Monarch of the Glen? Huh? And since when did you watch that show?

I don't watch that show, I just looked up the film history of the different actors.

Which one is it? I didn't see Monarch of the Glen on anyone's history.

Steven Elder, look in Notable TV appearances. Had a recuring role.

But any credibility that role might have brought him is now lost. Forever.

I still consider D&D the worst movie I've ever seen across the board.

It's somewhat amazing they're making a sequel.

I read a blurb by someone explaining why they greenlighted a sequel.

It's all based on marketing schemes, which means that this is movie being made and distributed just to have something out.

I think it won't stay longer than a month in the theaters before getting moved to video. Assuming it doesn't go straight to video first.

The IMDB comments say, 'The first one made a small profit in cinemas, and a reasonable profit at DVD. That makes it better than 80% of films, so hollywood is making another one'.
