Oh, wow. That's awful news. I can't believe it took so long for me to hear about it!

Uhm...

Was that the highlight of his career? If so, not much of a career :s

I don't know.  But that's all he probably ever had to mention to anyone...

n the 1950s, Brown was blacklisted during the communist scare in the United States. A longtime progressive, Brown always denied being a communist.

Moving to London, he found work on stage and in such films as "Tropic of Cancer" (1970) and "Twilight's Last Gleaming" (1977).

Well, not exactly "all" he had to mention, but the SW role is featured prominently on his website: http://www.philbrown.com/index.htm

Well, the lovable Barney Fife is no more. :'(  Don Knotts passed away a few hours ago. (http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=domesticNews&storyID=2006-02-26T014349Z_01_N25352847_RTRUKOC_0_US-KNOTTS.xml)

He was great.  >:(

Years in the future when Hollywood movies are computer-generated using the identities of all the famous actors of days gone by, Don Knotts must be one of them.

That is really and truly sad. I love that show, and Barney Fife was one of the biggest reasons why.

My favorite of his is still The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.  I need to own that one someday.

It's sad that he's gone, but not a huge surprise.  He's been in a couple of interviews in the last month where it was obvious that he wasn't doing well.  He'll be missed.  Personally, I loved The Incredible Mister Limpet.  :)

"Ghost and Mr. Chicken"--my brothers all *loved* that. I need to watch it again. Any of you remember that movie called "The Apple Dumpling Gang" (1975)? Cute movie and funny (of course).

But I knew (and loved) him best as the goofy, exitable Deputy Fife. At least he had a good, long career. What a great man.

The Apple Dumpling Gang is a classic.  I was raised on that one.  Have you seen the sequel?

hmph. Begone! We don't want no Knotts haters here. (This comment in no way reflects the opinions of the poster for said crossovers, which are lame.)

Who said anything about hatin'?
I *love* Scooby Doo. The best episodes they have are with Sandy Duncan, The Harlem Globetrotters, and Don Knotts.

"Cluny" is how it's spelled in post-modern English. ;)

Dana Reeve, wife of late Christopher Reeve, dies at age 44 of lung cancer, though she was a non-smoker. She leaves behind her son, 13 years old. So sad. :(
