Sweet... I'll certainly give it a shot. I have a number of friends who already want to kill me for not finishing stories...
"Magic is what makes fantasy fantastic," someone says, "you can't apply rules to them or else it loses wonder!" I respond, "Sure, but if you want to write them you will certainly want to know how they work." Writing is all about execution, and I find applying some basic laws of physics to magic systems make them more understandable and realistic. Here, I'm going to outline my basic method for developing a magic system.

I would like to announce something.(Emphasis added.)
If Vin Doesn't unite with the mist spirit, i will eat my hat. Yes, i did say "eat my hat."
and i mean it, if it so happens that she doesn't, i will post a picture of me eating a ketchup covered cap...
But if it does happen--i am to be addressed--by all who post the word "aye" (indicating their challenge)--as Sir Elmandr1.
So, who's up for it?
Since i have placed a rather risky bet on this.
In general. What do you guys think of idea of the HOA and the Mist spirit uniting.
Let me elaborate before you answer...
to me, or i believe, that the mist spirit is the collective souls of the HOA's of the past.
And that the HOA of today must unite with the mist spirit to destroy Ruin...That would explain why Ruin would want the world to think it evil--and that why i think it changed that part of the prophecy as well.
I don't think that deepness is the correct word.
Ruin altered it--i don't know what the word actually is but thats no it.
Vin wields the mists once...it essentially gives her powers that no other HOA can have...
Mist spirit has control over mist...
mist is formless mass of infinite energy...
so, what do ya'll think?
I think that the HOA is supposed to be endowed with the Mist Spirit.Which could mean absorbing mists instead... I still think that's too far of a stretch.

I agree that Marsh has to die, though it will make me very sad when it happens. But I think at least one other main character will die too.
Must you be so grim?
He won't Die!
if he does, i'll eat my hat--do you agree to do the same if he doesn't?
this challenge goes for you as well, miyabe! Grin
Hrmm, perhapse it was because she was inside and it was daylight when she had it out? That's my best guess.
I don't think so. She had to draw on the mist to fight Marsh off after he healed from the erring. She hit him with a mist based soothing that made him run away. So the mist was out at the time. Then she went directly out to help the army - she did not waste any time looking for the erring - at least it did not mention it in her POV and it would not have made any sense. "Sorry guys - I know you are getting killed by Koloss but I simply MUST find my erring first!"
That was an extra bead for emergencies; Atium burns quickly.Would someone with Achlorhydia have difficulties burning metals? That is, do stomach acids have anything to do with the equation or just the fact that the metals make it to the stomach?Remeber the Atium burning obligator? He just wore his metal on the forehead. It seems that all you need to do in order to burn metals is to simply have it in contact with your physical self. Course that's usually inefficient since another can take it away from you.
2) Exactly how did Zane's cutting himself help to block Ruin's voice?
