Brandon Sanderson / Re: [MISTBORN RPG] Your wish lists, please

I don't know if you need an action point system. The DM just needs to regulate the amount of metal you acquire and there needs to be rules on how much metal is burned doing certain actions.

Oh and consequences for doing things like the pewter runs.

I like featherweight better then the two I had.  Its more descriptive of both aspects of the ability.  I believe it in the book Brandon is going to use both aspects as benifits so it would be better to have both in the name.

And LTT sure hasn't forgotten how to channel.  We can see that the few times that he takes control of the power before Rand can stop him.

I have to agree with Miyabi on anchor.  We see in many fights where it is better to loose weight to be able to jump off a cliff and be light as a feather and float down or to jump high in the air and be out of the way of others.  It could also be a food mode of transport to have someone carry you.  Maybe something like undulator for fluctuator for there drastic changes in weight.

It will be interesting to see how the magic systems will work.  Having 10 magic systems sounds like alot if you propogate them through all the books. I found that having the 3 magic systems in Mistborn, while interesting, made it difficult to give them all the depth I would have liked.  We heard alot about allomancy, and feruchemy was covered enought to get the jist of it.  But I wish we could have gotton more detail about hemurlgy (I know I spelt that wrong but I don't have my books with me :()

I only read warbreaker the one time but it had such a finalized ending it was easy to take as a single novel and not a series.  There is just so much open for what he can do now so it will be interesting.

I have the EOTW audio book but could not bring myself to spend 50 each on all the others when I have the books as well.   I always pictured her with dark hair in my head though.  Not sure why.

Didn't one of the female forsaken question whether the male forsaken would be as welcomed by the DO now that the reason for there bonding is no longer necessary?  That would mean that the forsaken also beleive that the taint is gone.  I am not sure how they would know without having to touch the power through the taint though.  I am pretty sure I remember that but I havent read the books in a while.  I need to finish my current book so I can start the reread.

I think part of the problem with the theory posts is that the last book of mistborn is now out so that lowers your options for theory posts.  They will pick up when Brandon starts writing a new series and we have more to theorize on.  I have not read the Alcatraz book so can not theorize on that.   There are only a few threads on WoT at the moment though.  There are just not a lot of new threads being posted so everyone is following them.

I took a look at it but it seems to be one of those turn based dueling games like the werewolves and vampires one.  They required me to go online to ofter and if I forget someone just beats me up while I am offline.  I didn't really like the part with the XP only being from dueling either.  I guess I am a more traditional RPG player.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: RE Entertainment signs deal with EA
« on: February 19, 2009, 04:17:05 PM »
I do not have high hopes for the games that cound out of RE.  I know that they had a real falling out with Robert Jordan and that he no longer wanted to do business with them but they already had the rights.  Most of it was due to the unfinished comic series I believe. I have never seen the comics so can't really comment on them.

Teaming with EA will get them the capital they need to make the game, but it will also force them to follow a strict schedule that will end up with the games being released half done and full of bugs.  At least and MMOs they do.

That being said, I will buy them anyways because they are WoT games.  I bought the first WoT game back in the day. It was not all that good but I still bought it.  Ended up being a poorly done first person shooter.  Balefire didnt even kill in one shot :(.

There has to be a way for it to be done, this isnt the 1st turning of the wheel so it had to have been done before although too long ago for even the slightest memory to remain. "The wheel of time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth comes again". Maybe they find a way to do it, maybe the creator does lend a hand (there was the voice at Tarwins Gap to kinda show that he/she/it is paying some kinda attention) but either way its been done on all the other turns of the wheel so it has to be done again somehow

I always figured that the voices was our first instance of seeing Rand hearing the voice of Lews Therin.

SPOILER

So we know that ruin and preservation are combined at the end of HoA into on "shard" being sazed. It is also theorized there that it is there original form and something in the past happened to separate them.

My theory on HOID is that he is also fragments of a single shard that was shattered long ago.  The big difference being that the  fragments are on separate planets and rather then keeping one power over another they all share a bit of the same power.  Now that they have been shattered that power would be weekend.  Also, I think it is really impossible to destroy a shard.  Hoid may die on one planet but he will be reborn there as well to be a reoccurring theme to collect the stories of the planet and try to help guide it with his stories from other planets.  We never did see Ruin and Preservation destroyed, just combined.

As for his conversation in Warbreaker I think they are referring to Mistborn. We saw gods die with the Lord Ruler, Ruin, and Preservation as well as two lands come together with the end of HOA bringing together the land of ashfall and the land of sunlight.

That is alot for 2 cents,  I think you owe me more.

Anyways, I agree that the dark ones prison will have to be resealed completely and not just patched in order for the wheel to continue on.  I am wondering how this will be done.  It is stated many times that the creator bound the dark one in his prison.  If this is true then wouldn't the creator have to rebind him.  If thats the case we are out of luck because the creator does not take a dirrect hand in events.

I believe that it is also possible, if unlikely, that they will find some way to "break" the wheel, or maybe I should say "bend", that will end the cycle of the battle witht he Dark One and start a new story that will be repeated over and over again. :P

Either way I do not think Rand will die. I think just the voice in his head will die.  If he dies it will be more like a Harry Potter death in which he dies but not really. :P
