The Holy Saint, Grand High Poobah, Master of Monkeys, Ehlers:
I listen to everything except modern country and "diet" radio (you know any station that describes itself as "light" or "smooth" or whathaveyou -- usually playing Lionel Richie or Barry Manilow).

My four favorite performers are still (in no particular order) Rush, The Kinks, Matthew Sweet, and They Might Be Giants. But people like Andres Segovia and Joe Satriani come darn close. I'm also very taken by Béla Fleck, Harry Connick (and I don't know why!), and any other amazing musician. Obviously my two favorite genres are ten year old Alternative and art rock, but I've got my fingers in everything from the muppets, to show tunes, to jazz fusion, to folk. I'd say my own music is probably most influenced by Bob Dylan and accoustc Eric Clapton, but with a pop sensibility. though I'm not claiming to be within a billion light years of their talent for either songwriting or performing.

Fellfrosch:
At home I listen to whatever children's CD my daughter is listening to. In the car I listen to metal and rock (currently Linkin Park and Foo Fighters). At work I listen to internet radio, which I tune almost exclusively to European techno; mostly Ambient, but some House.

stacer:
Wow, we really have a range of musical appreciation here. I was talking to 42 a couple years ago before I left Provo and he was saying how much he loved stuff like the soundtrack to the Nightmare before Christmas. Before that, I never really thought about people my own age listening to stuff outside the spectrum of what you could hear on the radio (though even then I had cd wallets full of stuff that couldn't be found on the radio).

I, too, love the Muppets. My favorite Christmas cd that I have is John Denver and the Muppets--hilarious. I usually have my radio tuned to the classic rock station, but since I don't have cds of my favorite songs, I can't remember the names of the singers. I'm notorious for that. But oh--I will add Van Morrison to my list. And Cat Stevens.
