Title: Nausicaa
Post by: Sigyn on September 13, 2004, 06:07:40 PM
Okay, Miyazaki's Nausicaa was supposed to be released on August 31st.  Now Amazon claims that it doesn't know the release date.  Does anyone know why Disney is doing this?  And when Nausicaa is supposed to be released?  I tried looking on Disney's website but it was worse than useless.

They were delayed back in June, no new release date has been announced.

If you want Miyazaki news goto www.nausicaa.net best sourse.

Thanks, I tried that too but I couldn't find anything.  I am gaining new hatred of Disney and I didn't think that was possible.

Since everyone expects me to know this stuff anyway (why I don't know) I thought I'd post an update to this.  The next wave of Ghibli moves comes out Febuary 22nd, these are Nausicaa, Porco Roso, and the Cat Returns (http://www.nausicaa.net/miyazaki/neko/).  The Cat Returns is not a Miyazaki film, though it is a Ghibli movie, it's kind of a sequal to Whisper of the Heart which is another non-Miyazaki film.  And yes, The Cat Returns replaces Totoro in the release, I suspect it has to do with the fact that Fox Still sells their version of Totoro.

You can see the press release here (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6185)

Despite everything saying the release of Nausicaa, Porto Roso, and the Cat Returns is the 22nd of Febuary (even the tv advertisments) Media Play in Orem has all 3 for sale one week early.

I just picked up Nausicaa myself.

It's the original Ghibli.  The Warroirs of the wind one can't be sold anywhere becaue Ghibli succecfully sued the company that made it years ago.

Remeber these are all put out buy Disney (they bought the rights to all of Myazaki's movies).

The US dub has both Mark Hammill and Patrick Stewart in it.

I might, though I don't like doing movie/DVD reviews as you can tell if you actualy look for all 4 of the movie reviews done by me.
