dude, you're at a scrapbooking convention! You've got to be surrounded by the sweetest spirits in all of Utah! What do you need help with?

By the way, I understand you're only back for ONE day next week, I need to talk to you about something editorial in that time, so don't shrug me off :)

Fell, you should have been at ALA with me. It was awesome.

If you had internet access at 11am, why haven't you been online more?

So how is that "adorable layout featuring cute colors and grosgrain ribbon" coming along?

What do they even talk about there? Different types of paper or something?

All right, looks like we're going to have to mount a rescue operation.  Stealth team, gear up!  We'll leave a cardboard cutout of Fell in his place, then bring him back for deprogramming.

I'll provide the distraction.

If Fell had any conviction he would be where he is right now. But I'm still not wholey certain why Fell would be at a conviction.

And Ent, you've never been to a convention? Inprobable!

Nope, never. AFAIK there is only 2 or 3 anime cons in the whole of the UK, and only a few RPG ones.

I say we leave Fell to the scrap-happy women. He went into this mission with full knowledge of what he would face. If he can't take it now, tough.

You would. However, one very important detail has not yet come to light. And that is that...YOU'RE ONE OF THEM SENT TO TRY TO DISSUADE US FROM RESCUING FELL! ADMIT IT!

Alright, *sob* I admit it. This has all been a ploy--even my relationship with EUOL. An evil plan of infiltration orchestrated by the Powers-That-Be of Scrapbooking. I was to use my feminine wiles and wit to take over TWG and turn it into a Scrapbooking Website!!!

Actually, I'm about as far from a scrapbooker as you can get. I'm lucky if I even get the pictures in an album--the kind where all you have to do is slip them into a clear pocket and write down next to it what it is a picture of. And I also seem to be inherently craft-challenged. In Young Women's, my church youth group, every once in awhile we would have a craft. One time we painted boxes for orphans in Mexico and filled them with school and sanitary supplies. I pitied the orphan who got saddled with my box--I think she would've prefered to be boxless instead. It was, how shall we say, influenced by "modern" or "abstract" art. And who knew that you could get that kind of color by mixing paint? :P

See, the girly thread of girlness was right to be closed. There's an uprising in action.

Okay, my undead minions should be busting into the convention sometime around lunchtime tomorrow.  Get those explosives ready!

Any ninja monkeys available to run interference?

I think, instead of rescueing him, we should goto Vegas and left Fell know all the fun things we plan on doing while he's stuck there.

Don't you?

Ookla, why would I go to a con for writers, editors and wannabe's of each? :)

Isn't that what this forum's about? >_>

Umm... Worldcons typically have gaming as well, but I don't know the specifics on this one.

And filking! Don't forget the filking!

So the bad news is, I spent the week with 1700 women and none of them were young or cute. The good news is, the return flight was filled with a women's volleyball team from California, ages 18-22. Delightful.

What do you care?  ???

I care because the thought of it will drive Tage mad.

I have to admit, the thought of Fell on that plane instead of me is a little depressing.

There too young for you, anyways. Stick with being my Understudy Boyfriend.  ;)

I agree, I know Tage isn't much younger than me and it has been a couple of years since dating 18-20 year old women was a good idea for me.

Who said anything about dating? It was a volleyball team consisting of 18-20 year-old girls. I'd just be appreciating the aesthetics.

You obviously don't know Tage that well, that's a pretty standard comment for him.

You'll never know how close you were (or were not), Archon.  ;D

That's quite alright Chimera. The seven years age difference, and half a country separating us would be quite hard to overcome anyway. You still haven't answered my question.

Ok then, let me rephrase my question. How is that shallow?

Obviously you don't believe in the power of love.  :-* ;) J/k

In answer to your question about what Tage said, mostly I was joking. But the whole idea of athletic teenage girls (ie 18-20 yr old volleyball players) being aesthetically pleasing--an opportunity for Tage to sit and gawk at them--struck me as kind of shallow.

Uhm...

Tage is right on the money here. The whole purpose of 18-20 year old groups of females is to be visually pleasing.

I don't think that that is shallow, just saying that girls can provide good scenery. Now Entropy's comment, that is a better example.

I work at a computer helpdesk at a uni in a state where high school finishes at 17. I spend all day dealing with 18-20 year old girls.

Of course, I still don't get any.
