Is IRC dead?
« on: December 29, 2004, 09:19:03 PM »
We have Trillian set up at my job so we can use IRC chatrooms to have all our agents in there. Then they can chat or whatever and can get a hold of us, whatever.

I'm so sad though, because NO ONE here with the exception of a maybe three people ever used IRC or mIRC or anything.  I pinged my channel just now because I was bored and then had to spend 15 minutes explaining what a ping was and why it's relevant to anything.

(no lag here - we're on the company's server so my ping was pointless.)

Yes and no.  IRC as it use to be is starting to die off becasue of AIM and MSN.  Also lots of sights have their own chatrooms, some of which use IRC protocalls though no one would be the wiser.  More people are moveing away from the traditional chatrooms/methods because, well, there are lots of crazy people on the net.  I tried IRC once and never when back becasue you couldn't have a conversation without some 12 year old comming in and makeing crude and offencive remarks.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Obviously the comment of someone who doesn't use IRC. There are many types of channels, though admittedly most people here wouldn't exactly care for the typical conversation topics on IRC, heh.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Until the last couple months when I've been busy, I usually am on irc every day with the manga/anime crowd.

yeah, I use IRC a lot, but only for a group of writers channels for support and a channel that includes some close friends.

I need for there to be some commas in that last post, Saint.

grammatically no more commas are necessary.

Sorry I'm siding with Saint.  At first when I saw the post I thought you meant it sarcastically because there were too MANY commas.  But that's not the case either/

My response post, however, should have a comma after "Grammatically"

And ent, it's English majors, not Mormons in this case.

Actually in this case, it's both: Mormon English majors.

Or Mormons majoring in English

Syntactically those two are the same, while Mormon English Majors isn't necessarily.
