Anyone else have a livejoural account?
I thought I'd plug mine for those who wish to keep tabs on me or peek inside my head. Speak up and post your link if you also have one...

If it doesn't load, just keep trying it. It's quirky like that.

I think blogs are the tools of the dark one.
-
I think its one of the best new topics on the net. They can be both fun and entertaining and are a good way to keep in contact with friends over long distance
If one isn't entertaining or says things you don't like, you never have to go back to that site.

Heh. Blogs.
I dont read them at the moment, cant be bothered, but i like:
Conservative Commentary (British right wing politics)
Edge of Englands Sword (british and american right wing politics)
Public Interest (centerish yank and a little british politics)
Au Currant (american right wing politics)
Free Britannia (not really a blog... but its anglosphere and israel orientated. right wing, amazingly)
And Uncle bob! Thats diaryland though. Very funny.
When i get back into the blogsphere, i'm gonna find a few left wing blogs to read. Mainly so i know what kind of crap the wobbly liberals are speaking this week.

Here's my thing with blogs. ANd I'll preface it by stating that I am a deep opponent of categorizing and villifying a genre of writing to a particular set of sins. Comics are a victim of that.
But here tis. The format is basically an enhancement of everything I've ever hated about web pages. I dont' care about your cat. I dont' care about the chick you hit on at the bar last night. I don't care about the cute guy in math class.
Even when I've been pointed to ones that are supposedly better than others have been utter crap. So I don't bother even thinking to look at them any more. With the exception of the "very secret diaries" which are fiction and satire and not true blogs. Me no likey. "No good can come of this."
Then again, I'm not a surfer. I don't look at most web sites more than once, even when they update content regularly. The only sites I hit with any regularity are web comics and two message boards (including this one). If I'm truly bored I may hit slashdot or the Onion. If I want to keep in contact I'll email or chat or IM.

I'm not much of a blog person either but if I wanted to rant endlessly I would just do it here.
-
I had one for some time. Lets see if I can remember where.
How about this, I remembered it. Here's the link: http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=FordPrefect
I haven't updated this in a while, since only my one friend actually looked at it, and that may have been once or twice. If anyone wants to get me pumped up to start it up again I will. But it won't be pretty....prettyer.

what is blog
-
Blog is short for weblog, basically a diary/editorial online for all to read.
I myself find many of them interesting, but am in the minority here I do believe :)
-
It's worth noting that they come in different flavours.
Mr pleasington does what sounds like a online, viewable, diary. I tend to read ongoing editorials on political events - the sites i read do not talk about their own lives unless it is relevant to a discussion or something. They are chock full of highly informed and intellligent opinions and discussion on political events. The all out inter blog bitchfights at the start of the iraq war were breathtaking to behold.

I've had a LiveJournal account for months. I use it primarily to keep in touch with my online friends, now that we all stopped using IRC. You see, Eric, for that particular group, I *do* care about their cat or the chick from last night or that guy in math class. That's why I think it's useful.
-
I have a stupidly stupid idea. Make me, Gemm, the overlord of this here Rants and Stuff board. Bwaha. Bwah. Hah. eh..
I bring nothing to the table!
-
No.
And what did that have to do with Livejournals?
-
I myself find many of them interesting, but am in the minority here I do believe :)
Actually, if I'm not too much mistaken, its SE that is technically in the minority, as he's the only one here who's voiced any strong feelings against weblogs.
Then again, SE's opinions are often overpoweringly strong, thus giving him a majority by default amongst most of the opinions that are voiced here, I think..
So perhaps your statement isn't entirely untrue. :)
-
Don't the voices in my head count for my side as well?
-
I didn't think it was necessary to include them, since you already are the majority. But if you want to include them, I suppose we could -- we just haven't been properly introduced yet. ;D
-
That's because most of them think that proper introductions involve knives.
-
..and perhaps that is yet another valid argument as to why the Voices in your Head should not be included when tallying the majority opinion on any particular topic.
-
In my mind, it's another reason TO allow their voices heard, to stem violence
-
In my mind, it's a reason to surgically remove a portion of Saints skull, and to apply branding irons to the rest of his head.
/me starts unrolling a bundle of knives
-
In my mind, the world's my sweet apple pie.
-
* Entropy starts unrolling a bundle of knives
Now you've gone and got them all excited.
-
OH, Knives. Not kites or whatever I read when I read that after waking up from my nap/sleep after being up for 24+ hours. Ok. Got it.
