Title: Best o' Luck, stacer!
Post by: Shrain on March 15, 2006, 11:34:54 PM
Hey, stacer.

If you get this before you go in for sinus surgery (tomorrow, I think), I just wanted to send you my best wishes. Here's hoping that the surgery's a big success and you won't get sick nearly as often. Do you have to miss a few days of work? (I don't have much of an idea how long recovery takes.)

Anyhow, good luck. Feel better soon 'cuz we'll miss you. :'(

Wow.  Are you having your surgery already?

Good luck, in that case.  My prayers are with you.

Thanks, guys. It's tomorrow morning. Well, this morning, I guess. 7:45 a.m. And I'll likely be online more often in the next few days, because I'll probably be super bored. I've got some movies stocked up, and a nice new comfy quilt (a whole bed set, actually--orange quilted shams, cute orange flowers on the quilt, nice and sunny and cheerful), and my kitties to keep me company.

Yes, kitties. I adopted a new kitten today to be Mogget's buddy. They're still getting used to each other. Perhaps not the best timing, but me being home the next few days, hopefully they'll get used to each other and like each other. At least, I hope so. No sense in getting a second cat unless he helps Mogget's socialization. So the next week is kind of a trial, I'm afraid. I feel bad for the kitty if I end up not wanting him, because it's very important not to reject him, but the whole point of getting another is for Mogget to have a friend.

Okay, so I'm not the most optimistic person tonight. I'm sure it'll be great in a week. I hope.

Yes, kitties.

Yay. Sounds like you're all set. :) I hope the kitties get along and don't get all jealous over you. (My roomie's dogs often decide to get in jealous fights over who can be in lap, etc. This doesn't get them anywhere, of course, because then I just don't let either of 'em sit in my lap. lol).

Anyway, you're probably at the doctor's still. Hope you get some good rest when you get home.

Good grief Stacer.  You're collecting cats?  All you need now is a spooky house with a high hedge around it.

j/k  May God be with you for your surgery.

Do do well and all that jazz. And may that be with you on your way around.

Heh. Well, they are both black cats. The new one is full black. And he needs a name. They seem to be getting better at getting on today, though Mogget is still swiping at the baby.  But he doesn't seem to be doing it meanly--just letting him know which one's dominant, I think.

Surgery went okay. I'm finally feeling coherent again. I've been dozing in and out all day. I have a gauze taped under my nose that feels all weird. Oh, and my brother is staying with me tonight and has been running food back and forth for me and been nice enough to pick up my prescriptions and bring me candy (breathing through my mouth so much has made my mouth parched all day--some hard candy will hopefully fix that).

Oo, now they seem to be actually playing for the first time. Yay! ... nevermind, it was just Mogget trying to keep the new kitty from the litter box. Bad Mogget! I think this is going to take some time, but I'm seeing some hope.

Not a lot. Just two, and I wasn't really keen on the idea of a second one, but it seemed like a good decision for Mogget's peace of mind. He needs a lot of social interaction, and I just can't pay him the attention he needs (i.e., all my waking hours). He's here alone all day, never sees anyone but me, which is a recipe for a neurotic kitty. I hope once they get acclimated that they'll like each other.

You can trust Jam on this one. He knows. It's already well documented that he's a freak.

Cat collecting aside, it's great that your bro could be there to help you out. :)

Verdict is in--the name of the new little kitty is Tom Tildrum. That's for the main character in the English folk tale The King o' the Cats, which I illustrated for my picturebook class at Simmons. I think that's a good combination: Mogget and Tom Tildrum. You can read the folktale itself here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/eng/meft/meft32.htm.

I think it's pretty funny.
